We stayed here for 3 nights in February when our friends got married at the Ritz. It was reasonably priced, a central location and handy for heading in or out of the city. Rooms were clean and tidy and a cot was provided for my 9 month old daughter. Our room even had its own little courtyard outside despite not... More

I could not wait to leave the last time I stayed at this hotel. The room was grubby and the staff were rude. What a difference now it is a Mercure hotel. The room was clean and the staff were all absolutely charming. The hotel is in a brilliant location for the museums, Retiro Park, Sol and the Plaza Mayor;... More

Clean and comfortable rooms conveniently located across the street from the Prado and Atocha station. The room was very quiet and I had a great night's sleep every night. I also enjoyed the balcony to get some fresh air. The included breakfast isn't the best, which is why I gave the hotel only four stars.

This hotel has a privileged location to visit the Madrid's three most important art museums: the Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Reina Sofía museums. Furthermore, it is located in a very typical Madrid neighbood - Sta. Ana, with its restaurants and tavernas and at a walking distance of the famous Plaza del Sol. Despite being in the city center, the... More

I've stayed in this hotel when working in Madrid on numerous occasions and found it to be great. The rooms are a good size, always spotless and the staff are friendly and helpful. I've never had any issues with noise and think the location is great being near the Prado and Retiro and there are some wonderful little tapas bars... More

Just returned after three night stay. First visit to Madrid. Receptionist was very helpful in marking all nearby landmarks on our map and giving us details on them. Breakfast had enough choice and hotel was clean and staff were friendly and attentive. We didn't,t find it noisy as other people have said. It is near to a lot of bars... More

The hotel is very well located and staff were friendly, but our room was right next to the elevator and the cleaners' work station and we could hear them chit chatting, opening and closing their office door and moving trolleys around from 8am, which kind of disturbed our sleep. You can also hear noises coming from other rooms (even people... More

Great location but the noise from other guests was amazing. Every word of every conversation from the rooms on both sides could be heard, even the rustling of paper and moving furniture, dropping shoes in the room above reverberated. Will be looking for a quieter hotel for my next trip to Madrid.

Location of the hotel is central if you take in the city center and Madrid Park. The PRADO is a 2 min walk across the road. Plenty of food choices within 5-10mins of walking. Amenities were great with areas to relax and unwind. Staff were very friendly.

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
