On arrival to the hotel, we quickly realised that it was situated in the perfect location! Tryp Cibeles is located bang in the centre of the Gran Via, which is the main street in Madrid. We were firstly greeted by the security guard, who was very friendly, and then proceeded to check in. The receptionists all spoke good English, which... More

This turned out to be a superb hotel from which to explore Madrid old town. 6th floor - The beds were wide and comfortable, the bathroom very clean and well stocked. We could have our room cleaned on request, they even straightened the teddies, nice touch. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, you didn't need to ask twice. Breakfast... More

We had nearly 500 euros stolen from our room during our one night stay in this hotel. The safe was faulty and couldn't be used. Our complaint took nearly 2 months to be addressed, even after calling numerous times. After being told there was nothing to be done, my husband finally got the email address of the general manager ...... More

We had a room on 6th floor (or 7th) with a view towards Malasana and north. Nice view. The room was big enough and comfortable bed. The only problem was a quite loud airconditioning. We ate breakfast,( 9e) and it was a good value for that money. We recommend this hotel. There are many nice cafes and restaurants nearby.

This is a shady hotel that has let its guests be robbed not once, but multiple times. All our money was stolen from our locked luggage in our room just hours after we checked in. There was no sign of a break-in, and the thief locked our luggage back so we wouldn't notice. What kind of outside burglar would do... More

The hotel is clean, sharp, updated. Nice roof view! Location is perfect near metro, hop on/hop off bus. Walking distance to Puerta Del Sol and Plaza Mayor. We had a family room which is two singles squished together and then bunk bed for the kids - apart from being a little rickety - the kids (9&11) loved the bunks plus... More

Stayed here during a city break. Wanted somewhere in a good location to use as a good located base. Fantastic location just off Gran Via. The rooms were lovely! Clean, bright and we got lucky with one facing onto Gran Via which had a lovely view and no noise from outside with the doors shut. The hotel had free wifi... More

If you're about to book your trip to Madrid you could do far worse than book this centrally located, clean, chic hotel. It does everything most hotels should do. It's got clean, spacious rooms. It's got a hot, powerful shower and a bath. It's got comfortable beds. It's got a decent breakfast. And the staff are uber-friendly and helpful. Oh,... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
