Location: Central, two steps away from Sol station Facility: Clean, Ikea decoration, decent size room, en suite bathroom. Rooms facing the streets are nice with a lot of light thanks to the floor to ceiling windows. Staff: Efficient and pleasant. Value for money: Yes

Just 100 mt away Sol metro station, Clean, it is ok but... If you are a big man/woman I do not recommend..room -toilet-shower was very small narrow.. Walls are thin.. They said there is receptionist 24 hours but one night receptionist did not open the door of the hotel at 03:30am, they knocked the door loudly and called the phone..everyone...

Such a cute and well-decorated hostel. It's in a great location and always smelt nice when entering. The only downside would be all the stairs you need to climb to get upstairs (the elevator seems a bit sketchy so we didn't always trust it). Other than that this place is amazing, definitely one of the best hostels I've ever stayed...

The hostel is nice, modern and is kept clean but a bit noisy. The rooms are ok but quite small but is a good solution in Madrid, you have most of the main monuments and clubs and bars within walking distance and Sol metro station is five minutes away

They were still doing renovations when we arrived but our room was ready and the whole effect was delightful. New bathrooms, beds and furnishings make this a very pleasant place to stay. It occupies one complete floor above street level, and doesn't look like a hotel from the outside. Extremely well located, in the heart of the city. There is...

Situated in the hearth of the city, very near to Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol, this hostal is a perfect solution to conciliate saving and comfort. The room was not too much big but wide enough for two people and warm (also during the night), the private bathroom very small but clean (towels are changed every day!) and modern....

Fantastic location just off Arenal and La Puerta del Sol. Shops, restaurants , markets, palaces and museums are just a few steps away. The Hostal is very well kept, clean and the staff are friendly and extremely helpful . For 60 Euros per night I don't think one can do much better! Highly recommended and of course I will be...

Don Alfonso is a very good option in Madrid. It is wonderfully situated, central and handy. From the outside it is a place I would have never chosen but once you are in, it is really clean and very quiet even being in the centre of Madrid. The staff is nice and helpful as well. All you can expect from...

Due to a change in travel arrangements we had one extra night in Madrid that we had not planned on. Our original hotel could not accommodate us for the extra night so we had to find someplace else. This ended up as our extra night hotel. The immediate pro of this place is its location. You are in the Plaza...

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
