Marvellous staff who helped enormously with directions, can bookings etc. Very clean, excellent shower and great location. Highly recommended to groups and couples. The breakfast and free Afternoon tapas totally exceeded expectations, thank you!

Ok. So I choose this hotel because it had a good location in downtown Madrid, however, the hotel is not worth it. It looks good in the pictures, the reviews are good but it is actually old and my room was dirty (tv control was all sticky). I had a REALLY bad experience. Can you imagine that on our second... Stayed here for one night on a stop over. Lovely hotel in a great location not far from main city centre attractions (plaza mayor, grab via, plaza Del sol etc.) The staff were lovely and the rooms well decorated and extremely comfortable. It's not the first time I've stayed in a Catolonia hotel and it certainly won't be the last.... More

We got a really good offer. Lovely interior design, Great location, close to many restaurants and bars etc. Very nice service. Amazing breakfast. A huge variety of choices beautifully exposed. THE BEDS - FABULOUS! Never slept in such comfy beds in Spain (they are usually much too hard for my choice). Very nice free "afternoon drink & tapas-service" in the... More

We stayed two nights in catalonia plaza to start our road trip in Spain. Hotel's location is ideal for exploring the popular tourist attractions and the old Madrid by foot. It's close enough but not too close to attract loud revellers on the street. The hotel staff is polite, courteous and very helpful with advise and guidance. The hotel facilities... More

Very good location for sightseeing and night life. Close to Placa del Sol and Placa Santa Anna (very nice place with tons of restourants caffes and disco clubs. Very good breakfast. Friendly stuf. Big and clean rooms with not so nice view unless your windows are faceing street. It would be perfect to have at least little swimingpool after long... More

Brilliant hotel within walking distance of all sites, although would suggest metro might be an idea, which was simple to use. Didn't use facilities of hotel other than our room on floor 5, but that was first class, staff on reception very helpful

A great hotel! Perfect spot for sightseeing and dining in a relatively quiet area with a local feel! The afternoon treats at the hotel were a brilliant bonus and the staff were superb! The main sights are within easy walking distance and the restaurants, tapas bars and cafes around nearby Plaza Santa Ana and Anton Martin offered lovely local dining... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
