This hotel is situated in an excellent location. A walking distance from the beginning of the city centre and yet far enough away from the direct hustle and bustle of a very busy town! Staff are professional but the personal touch of boutique and smaller hotels was obviously missing. If I had been in Madrid on a business trip I... More

We booked this hotel some weeks ago, before reading the reviews in this site. Obviously concerned that we may have rubbish rooms, I tried to get a guarantee that we would be in the refurbished part of the hotel. In fact we were not, but although the room was a little tired, we have no major concerns. The facilities were... More

I chose this hotel for two reasons: 1- the positive comments I could find here on Trip Advisor and 2- I am a Platinum SPG member which gives me the similar highest fidelity customer rating in Marriott group. Well... What a disappointment. An old run down hotel that was refurbished to please the eyes on photos. But the workmanship is... More

The check in process was very slow and clinical and the room I had was in terrible need of repair, cleaning and updating. The bedroom was average and I found the bed and pillows to be rather uncomfortable. The bathroom, which may have been quite luxurious 20 years ago was in need of attention. The wooden door frames were rotting... More

The reviews of this hotel were so varied, that I was a bit nervous about what I would find. I braced myself for a mediocre hotel, and was glad to have found much better than that. First, the location was convenient to the metro - almost directly next to the Arguelles station. This made it pretty easy to get around.... More

A very nice hotel, well located, a short walk from the centre of Madrid and the Plaza Mayor. My room was very comfortable with plenty of space and a good wifi signal. The staff were very friendly and efficient. There was a special counter set up for giving advice on places for tourists to visit and I found this very... More

I found the Courtyard (Marriott) Madrid Princesa to be a pleasant city centre hotel. The location is fantastic and with quite a few attractions, restaurants and shopping within a short walk and if you are inclined, other attractions are also within 30-40 minutes walk. There are some cautions to the uninitiated traveller - the hotel is popular with organised tours,... More

The rooms are very run down, no plugs and they smell. The drapes have holes, carpet all stained, chunks of wood missing, wallpaper hanging down. Couch broke. Also very unfriendly at check in! Not in a good location either. This should not be a Mariott. They said some of the rooms are updated but very few. Don't go to this... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
