Couldn't really get more central if we had tried...Right by Sol station in the thick of everything! Staff were really friendly and helpful. Room was modern and clean, bed was very comfortable, fantastic monsoon shower with toiletries provided. We were in an inside room (308) so our window looked out onto other windows/walls but we weren't there for the view...

Located near Plaza Sol and in the bustling side streets is this unassuming Hostal, Decorated in a modern style with friendly staff. We stayed in room 307 which was very peaceful when considering the hustle and bustle at the front door. For a city break I cannot imagine being better location. The Metro is around the corner. The late bars...

For a long weekend city break this hotel is just what is required! Nothing too fancy, reasonably priced, perfectly located, clean and comfortable. Staff were excellent in both the hotel and the breakfast restaurant.

The hotel is perfectly placed just off the plaza del sol, with breakfast provided by a restaurant around the corner. The waitress was overworked but breakfast was a generous buffet if you weren't in a hurry. The hotel was situated in a bustling area full of excellent restaurants and bars with very few chains. Did not have a poor meal...

Well located near the Plaza del Sol. There are several good restaurants nearby. It is set at a second floor, on the first floor there is a restaurant. Spacious rooms, clean and neat bathrooms. Kind personnel. Free Wifi. Good value for the rate. I recommend it if you´re planning to stay in the area.

Great location, near to Puerta del Sol within less than 3-min walking distance. This square is the most center area of Madrid and very vibrant and sleepless on day and night. The bus tour stop are starting here, too; make it perfect for stay as everything is accessible. Our room is spacious and quite clean but less lights. Bathroom is...

Hard for budget conscious visitors to beat this option, 1 block from Plaza del Sol. Renovated in the past 5 years, compact rooms are clean, comfortable, efficient and air conditioned. One block walk to restaurant for included breakfast - better than expected. Enter through door at No. 8, not No. 6. Tiny elevator can be a bottleneck, but minor inconvenience...

The hotel is very close to Sol and in a lively area. Lot of restaurants and bars that are great. The room has an okay size - with two queen size beds there is not much space around but enough. Clean. Friendly staff and helpful reception. Only thing I would have liked to know before ordering is that breakfast is...

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
