This is an ideal small hotel to use when wishing to be in the heart of Madrid. It has easy access to all the locations you could possibly want to visit. The taxi ride to the hotel from the airport is easy and not too expensive. You can also use the metro to get there as well. The rooms are kept clean and the beds are comfortable. Depending on where your room is situated, the view of the city (particularly at night) is excellent. There are steps up and down from the reception area, so if your bag is heavy you may have to ask for assistance. The breakfast is more than sufficient for all nationalities. One of the lifts is extremely small and if there are four of you, you can squash into it and take a memorable photograph. There are places that need renovation, but on the whole it was clean, welcoming and a good choice of hotel to use as a base. Excellent value for money.

Hotel Arosa is located just around the corner of a side street (Calle Salud) to the magnificent Gran Via. This is a great location! The subway station Gran Via is a short walk away, so getting to and from the hotel is easy. I had a small room on the sixth floor with a view over the Gran Via. There was some noise from the traffic below, but not so much that it constituted a problem. Be aware that the two elevators are VERY small! The breakfast selection was nice and I did not have any problem finding an available table during my stay. All in all, I think Hotel Arosa offers good value for money, especially considering the great location!

This hotel has a great location, half a block away from Gran Vía and next to Casa del Libro (lovely bookshop). The rooms are comfortable and some have views to the Gran via street. The most shocking thing is the elevator, which is extremely small! The staff is educated and helpful.

I had to bite my tongue in order to make it through the duration of my stay. Unfortunately, my son made this reservation for me. I liked the location of this hotel which is near La Plaza del Sol. Initially, I was given a room with the view of busy streets and stores. It was fine until I woke up with a severe back pain, and could not get out of bed.... A poor mattress with beat up furniture, dirty chairs, that I was afraid to sit on... My health was my true concern because I did not want to go the hospital.... Finally, I complained and was offered many rooms with unacceptable beds. The room I chose had a better mattress and no view. It was a dungeon and I felt like a prisoner in Madrid. I was barricaded by bricks walls... This is not an exaggeration! I was devastated but the management could not offer me any other rooms.. for three days... Technically, they were booked.. I suffered in silence until i was able to choose a better room. The management offered me no compensation. Instead, they increased my rate by over 200euros. One good thing was the food and the restaurant personnel, They were nice and courteous. Everything was clean and neatly displayed. This hotel needs new management and a complete face lift of its rooms. This is one of the worst hotel that I have stayed in. It is beneath my dignity and I was insulted...

Centrally located but the hotel is no where near up to the Four Stars it shows. A good location for getting around Madrid with lots of easily accessible eating places. The hotel itself is in need of renovation and updating. The carpets in the hallway are three bare in places and the whole place is dark and a bit dingy. We only had two nights there but would not have wanted to stay longer. Hotel smelt of cigarette some as did our room. Breakfast up on the top floor was good though. Would not stay there again.

Good Location but unfortunately it end there. From a very pathetically small reception to Grumpy faced Staff. Dirty Carpets in corridors. The Room is small with not even basic facilities. The washroom was the only saving grace. The worst is yet to come. Friday night the central AC stopped working, called the Front office to register the complaint, nobody came to address it. Next day we came to know that the entire Hotel's AC is not working and they are trying to rectify the fault. The whole of Saturday went nothing happened. Even Saturday night I had to sleep with the AC. Considering the blistering heat in Spain, it was extremely uncomfortable. The most unfortunate part was that the Staff was completely unapologetic and had no back up plan, no solace for the guests, no guilt, no compensation & NO refund. They were extremely curt and had a take it or leave it attitude. This is the worst experience I had in my entire life. How can a 4 star rated hotel be so casual and unapologetic? The staff was least bothered about the inconvenience caused. The treatment was simply unacceptable. Even the Breakfast was so basic and same for all 4 days that we stayed. No change, no options, no live stations. The Hotel should be blacklisted and completely avoided.

The hotel itself is in a great location, you can really walk to several nice shopping areas and tourist attractions. A good complimentary breakfast was provided as well. The room was a little old but still nice and small, unsure if thats common throughout, but it was tolerable because of the location. Also considering its location it was a quiet hotel which was great. However my biggest complaint would be the desk staff, they barely said a word other than what was required and we did not once receive even a brief pleasantry greeting. I did not have this problem with any other of the 3 hotels I stayed at on the same trip.

I have stayed twice before on this hotel because of it's Location. However on my third visit last month I noticed the deterioration happening. The carpeting on hallways were disgustingly dirty and worn out. An embarrassment since I had recommended to my other three couples friends who were very unhappy with my recommendation. I advised management that I will not stay there again unless they've replaced carpeting and kept it clean.

Right in the middle of Madrid this hotel is on Gran Via which is mainly a shopping area and right opposite the biggest Primark ever! The nearest metro is Gran Via and the hotel entrance is on the side street. Reception staff were pleasant and allowed us to check in early. Room was lovely, bathroom needs updating - olive green was rank. There are toiletries and a very basic hairdryer. There is no bar or lounge on site but there is two computers should you need to print off boarding passes. There are two lifts - one of which is the smallest ever and uniquely shaped. The breakfast was very basic and if it was not already included I would not have paid the extra for it. Wifi is available but not always very reliable. The location was great for exploring the city and I would recommend it as a base.
