Santo Mauro was a unique experience. They really exceeding our expectations! Hector from concierge was truly an exceptional gem as he went out of his way to help us in any way he could. Everyone else at the hotel were also extremely friendly, hospitable and catered to every need of ours. We would really recommend this place if you are looking to buy experience.

Just had the opportunity to spend a night at the Hotel Santo Mauro as we traveled through Madrid on our way home from a holiday vacation...I wish we could have stayed longer! Our room was large and luxurious, room service was prompt and delicious, and the service overall was outstanding. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. In particular, Carmen went out of her way to help us arrange last minute COVID tests and make dinner reservations, while Hector reached out to us before we even arrived to see if we had any special requests or needs. This hotel is truly a "luxury collection" property. I highly recommend staying there!

Never disappoints! The Santo Mauro is my go to hotel in Madrid. If you are seeking consistent service, luxury accommodation, etc. Then Santo Mauro is a safe choice. It makes you feel like you are not travelling for business and can be a home away from home.

It's way better than what I expected as this was probably my first stay at an Autograph hotel. Loved the hotel from top to bottom, we arrived very early in the morning, and our rooms were ready. Perfecto! Impeccable service. Small hotel, high standards

After reading the reviews and viewing photos of the property, my wife and I were so excited about our stay at the Hotel Santo Mauro. Unfortunately, there were a series of disappointments revolving mostly around service. We booked a 5 night stay for January with points. We were given an upgrade at check-in to a beautiful and well appointed junior suite. While we loved our room, we noticed a very strong urine smell in the bathroom around the toilet area. We just decided to ignore it - after a couple days I didn't notice it anymore or the perhaps the maid service finally took care of it. But beyond the cleanliness issue that we noticed, I was also surprised by how bad the service was. I let the hotel know in advance that I was bringing my wife to the hotel to celebrate her birthday. They replied that they would do everything they could to make it a special time for her. During our stay, there was no acknowledgment of the special occasion - not even a "happy birthday." Contrast this with the next hotel we stayed at (a far less expensive one) - they noticed my wife's birthday on the passport, wished her a belated happy birthday, and then had a bottle of wine sent up to the room. Front desk staff at the hotel was also mostly disinterested and not particularly warm. And speaking of disinterested, the manager of the hotel, María, sent an email to me discuss some of my concerns about my stay, asking to speak by phone. I replied with my phone number, and almost a month later there has been no response. While the hotel's rooms and common areas are charming and the neighborhood is quite pleasant, I'd likely choose another hotel on my next visit to Madrid as the service at Hotel Santo Mauro fell far below a 5 star level.

Dear EthanJS, Thank you for choosing to stay at the Hotel Santo Mauro, Autograph Collection. Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and we sincerely apologize for falling short of meeting your expectations. I really don't know what happened because we asked the Restaurant to prepare a cake for your wife that honestly I don't know why she didn't received it, and for this I really feel very sorry. Once again, thank you for your valued feedback and we hope to serve you again whenever your travels bring you back to Madrid. Kindest regards, Covadonga Perez

We’ve lived in Europe for the past year and traveled as much as possible. As a long time Marriott rewards member, I had high hopes for upgrades at Titanium level status, but I’ve been really disappointed, until this stay. Other brands haven’t bothered to upgrade or really expressed reasons if no upgrade was available. For this stay I did reach out and ask if a suite was possible. Maria returned my call explaining they were a smaller property and fairly booked for Valentines weekend, promising to do their best. That’s reasonable when other guests have booked suites and paid higher prices. We arrived very late on a Friday night and were surprised to learn a junior suite was available. It was a beautiful space mixed with history and modern bathroom features. The deep tub and rain head shower were both fabulous plus a very comfortable bed too. We went straight to the cozy bar with cava and chocolate tasting for me and croquettes for him -all yummy. Their breakfast service was one of the best breakfasts in any hotel. Table service with multiple courses including tropical fruits, yogurt, heavenly French toast, eggs, omelettes and you can choose as many as you would like for 33€. Perfect start of the day before walking tours. If you plan a tapas tour early, I would save this type of breakfast for another day. The gardens outside were small but lovely. The dining room spaces are what you would expect for a luxury experience but a bit better and more interesting. Walking distance to city center was 20-30 minutes or taxi stand out front door too. We returned to hotel after a RMFC game in 30 minutes too. All beautiful hotels are only as good as the staff. The staff here are superb with each one putting in extra effort. They asked us if there was anything they could get for us every chance they had. This is what makes a stay both memorable and special. Thanks to each member of this fabulous team in Madrid. Definitely stay here if traveling to Madrid. You won’t be disappointed.

There are many choices for hotels in Madrid but I am so happy that I chose this one. I was immediately upgraded to a beautiful suite which was very spacious and so elegantly appointed. The public rooms are gorgeous in an old world European manner but didn’t feel fussy. The location was a 20 minute walk from the prado but that’s why I liked it. The “golden triangle” area is so noisy and congested and was so nice leaving all Of that behind at the end of the day. Highly reccomend.

I just finished my second visit to Hotel Santo Mauro. It is truly a spectacular, classic building. Gracious in scale, beautiful public spaces, and very friendly staff. My room this time was very dark and had only one window in the corner; I would prefer to avoid this in the future and you should too. Breakfast is deliciously and served in a beautiful, high-ceilinged space. There is a very pleasant, small scale to the Santo Mauro that is part of its appeal, and the neighborhood has a quiet, residential feel to it --- although it is also close to everyplace I wanted to get to in Madrid. For me, I wish there were more, and firmer, pillows on the bed, but this is subjective and others may fine the setup completely ideal. I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend and would only advise to request a room with plenty of natural light.

Almost every hotel has one thing that you want to change about it, or some experience you had that wasn't quite right. The Hotel Santo Mauro is an example of a truly perfect hotel. From the moment Javier met us on the street as our uber dropped us off to take our luggage and bring us to check in to the moment Javier helped us into the Uber to the airport we had a stunning experience. Javier, just like every single person at the hotel truly cared about our stay. We checked in at the stunning lobby and as an Ambassador Bonvoy member I was told that we would be upgraded to a two level suite. What a nice surprise! Javier walked us to the suite in a separate building and showed us our wonderful room. A very large bedroom well laid out. A nicely appointed marble bathroom with wonderful amenities and two sinks. A sitting room on the bottom level with a TV, fresh flowers, and a nice table to have a snack. And then upstairs where there was an office with an Mac computer, another sitting room with another TV and then a lounge room with a sound system, TV, big lounge chaises, it was great! Honestly I wanted to move into our room. It couldn't have been better. The views from the windows were of the Duke's house, it was really great. Then we decided to try the bar, because the main building has some stunning rooms. There's a red room that was so well appointed, an Asian room with cool Asian art everywhere, and the gin bar that was very James Bond-esque. For Dinner/Breakfast you could go to the library room which felt like a library out of a movie or in a museum. And as an ambassador member our breakfast was complimentary. The drinks were great and the food was great as well. They have quite a solid gin selection and I had the Nordes (a spanish gin), my girlfriend had a really cool cocktail with mezcal and sherry in it. Fantastic drink. For food we had some squid bao that was tasty and flavorful. Then for breakfast I had the spanish breakfast with great jamon and bread, and she had the pancakes, again very solid choice. There's nothing I would have changed about our stay, except for the length. I really would have liked to stay much longer in this hotel to keep enjoying the beauty, splendor, and service offered! This is the place to stay in Madrid, and we'll definitely be back!
