Loved this hotel due to its boutique style and the location was hard to beat. Easy to explore and sightsee, plus lots of good food options. Be sure to try out he bar down stairs - very good. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Something to point out is that if you are noise sensitive, you may find this hotel... More

Room (with balcony) was beautifully sun lit. Nice shad of green on walls. Noise at night wasn't too bad for me as I live in NYC. Mostly voices, not music. Staff was friendly and helpful. Excellent food all around. Small street made me feel part of the neighborhood. Quick taxi to Prado, etc or 40 minute pleasurable walk.

I stayed here with a friend for three nights while visiting Madrid - we couldn't have chosen a better hotel. The location was incredible - we were able to walk to every sight we wanted to visit (museums, parks, churches, nightlife, you name it), and the surrounding neighborhood was really authentic (i.e. not touristy) and filled with great restaurants and... This is a nice and cozy hotel! It's very clean and modern. The receptionist was very nice and walked us up to our room. My only complaint would be noise. I found the walls to be very thin and could hear everything outside my door as well. The street construction did not help either.

We spent the last 2 days of our 3 week honeymoon here. We felt welcome from the moment we walked in the door. We ate dinner here both nights (and we usually like to try a variety of places) but the food was just so good and it was just so relaxing. We had a spa suite (top floor) the... More

A gorgeous hotel in the La Latina district surrounded by bars and restaurants. Walking distance to everything. Wonderful bar and restaurant in the hotel with a clear floor revealing cellars underneath. Very cool. Popular hangout for the locals. Very helpful staff. Good continental breakfast plus eggs etc cooked to order if you wish. Highly recommend.

We visited this restaurant as part of a "tapas" tour while on a visit to Madrid. The restaurant was smart and comfortable. We thought that the tapas were expensive when ordering, but they were more rationes than tapas and were very good indeed. It appears a fashionable restaurant, with lots of elegant customers. It was a distance ahead of other... More

Four of us went to the restaurant and the girl at the front made room for us immediately. We had an unbelievable dining experience we ordered the Squid, Ox Tail, sirloin and chicken skewers. Worth every cent we paid, small meals and fine dining. I would highly recommend this to anyone living or visiting Madrid.

Cava Baja is a great street in la Latina. Well located for all the sights with tonnes of bars and restaurants. However I'd recommend visiting here for a night out rather than as somewhere to stay. We had a basic double room on the first floor of Leon de Oro. We hardly use a hotel room beyond sleeping and showering... More

Staying in La Latina

Neighborhood Profile
La Latina
La Latina is a charming neighborhood with two unique personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is characterized by a young population and a bohemian vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection of new bars, shops, coworking spaces, and other businesses popping up in the area. In the northern part of the neighborhood, the Cava Alta and Cava Baja streets constitute the tapas center of Madrid, where each age-old restaurant serves up distinctive specialties like huevos rotos and patatas bravas. Locals have come here for generations to while away hours over drinks and tapas with friends. On Sundays and public holidays, the streets to the south of La Latina metro station transform into a giant open-air market full of locals sifting through tent after tent of art, apparel, and antiques. Any day of the week, the intriguing blend of the traditional and the hip make the streets of La Latina worth exploring.
