We loved the location, the friendly service and the clean, simple rooms. I’m only giving it four stars because there was no hot water on the last day so we had to take freezing cold showers in the middle of winter. Not ideal but that’s the downside of a smaller establishment. Otherwise a wonderful stay in Madrid.

Situated within walking distance of most major sites and numerous metro stations this is a great hotel. Clean, nice size room and possessing a great style it is a really nice place to stay. We didn't eat at the restaurant but the place was always packed and the bar was a very nice place to have an end of the day drink. The staff was perfect. Helpful, courteous and friendly in every instance. I was surprised at how quiet it was considering the busy restaurant bar downstairs. We will definitely be revisiting this hotel.

Posada del Leon de Oro was the perfect boutique experience for us in Madrid. Walkability was great in every direction, and the staff was knowledgeable about the area. With nice weather, walking to the 3 superb museums in the city was no problem. Rooms were efficient and comfortable and ours had a small balcony to look out on the street below, especially with all the nightlife and early holiday festivities.

The room was very nicely presented. The greeting and information provided at the desk were great. The biggest problem is the noise. If you are not living like an average Madrid person and up late every night, lying in bed and listening to the party below is bad. The noise continues till about 11pm on a weeknight. Later on Friday and weekend. The rooms are not soundproof.
