Serious air conditioning problems! Air con kept turning off and reception staff stated all air con runs from the same block within each floor therefore if someone removes their key fob everyone's air con on that floor will turn off. Had to continually go to reception and ask for this to be solved, however to do this the reception staff... More

Location is absolutely perfect, cant find better. Room was absolutely amazing and rooftop pool was super addition. Next morning room was cleaned very quickly when we returned for siesta. Staff were so efficient and helpful. We're definitely going back with group of friends. A very trendy and modern place.to stay.

Me and my friend moved to this hotel from another (less than satisfactory) hotel in the outskirts of Madrid. Oh what a difference it made. Right in the centre of the city, everything at your door step. It really changed an average Madrid experience (at the other hotel) into a fantastic Madrid experience. The room was large. Two single beds... More

Excellent location, very noisy on Grand Via room view , not a 4 star breakfast, basic room even big, reception staff lacks tourists information knowledge( for example where does the Brajas-airport bus stop ), staff lacks knowledge of basic English ( example cleaning ladies giggled when asked for toilet paper and " No comprendo" ( sorry if not correct) was... If you're coming into town and need a place to stay, I can't imagine a place more comfortable. The showers and bathrooms are oversized with giant rain shower heads. The pool is a refreshing way to spend an afternoon. We stayed after a trip to Sri Lanka and it was the perfect way to regroup after a long flight.

We have stayed at many Catalonia hotels in Spain and I have to admit that this one is by far the best. The holiday did not start off very well as we lost our suitcases at the airport. We arrived at the hotel with no clothes or toiletries. We had only the clothes we stood up in. The staff checked... More

We arrived in July for a 4 night stay traveled with friends, after a flight delay the reception booked us in fairly quickly both of the rooms were on the first floor, our room was front facing on the very busy road but we did not hear any noise a lovely large comfy bed, toiletries in bathroom and replenished daily,... It really isn't acceptable to turn up to a hotel in Madrid with your 12 year old son and be told that there is a problem with the booking you made over a week ago. I'm not sure whether it was the booking agency or the hotel but the latter did not seem concerned that I was sitting in their... More

This hotel has rave reviews and having just returned I see why people are happy. We were comfortable for the most part and staff are polite and extremely helpful. (Julio at reception and the team) I do feel the hotel might be getting a bit tired. Noticeable on the upper floors not at reception or restaurant. There was work, updating... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
