Room was spacious, which was nice, with a bathroom nearby. Had some issues with the wifi, but luckily we had our own 3G connection. Lack of fan/air con was a major issue on hot days/evenings. Location excellent, very central, and we happily walked to most sights.

We spent four nights in Apolo XI and enjoyed every minute. Room was cleaned every day so the toilets, staff were friendly and helpful. Most importantly hostel is situated in centre of picturesque city just minutes away from buzzing little streets full of local tapas bars and restaurants.

if you just want somewhere to crash and call your head-quarters to leave your stuff while you are enjoying the city, this is place. The bathroom is shared and there is no mat, so I would suggest flip-flops or a dirty item instead. The bedrooms are roomy and they have enough furniture to meet your needs: -Wardrobe, basin, bed, chair,... More

Good location - just a few steps form Puerte del Sol and it can easily reached from metro. Quite noisy neighbourhood, but we had a room with a backyard view and it was really quiet. Spacious room (we had one with a bathroom). Cleaned every day which is a huge plus. Overall - good value for money.

The property is located at the very center of Madrid which is great for many reasons. It is situated on third floor of the building meaning that nobody can enter the pension by mistake. The room is small with no heating/AC, no place in the shower cabin to put your soap and shampoo. There is no any person almost all day at the... It's the little things that make a place special. Like other hostels and budget accommodation, this place has hot, clean showers and a comfortable bed. And the owners, so kind. We had 12 hours to kill after checkout before our flight, the owner kept our bags safe and offered us a shower when we picked them up at 7pm. It's... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
