Pros: Spacious room, friendly staff, a crib provided for our baby. The hotel has certain style. Our room resembled a chamber in the Royal palace: the drapes, bed covers and cushions were of dark blue with golden flowers pattern, and the bed had coat of arms on it. Quite a difference from the usual faceless hotel room. Cons: the hotel... More

Pros : Large room, quiet area, location. Cons : Overpriced, dated and tired all around, not a four star hotel. The hotel is well located...close enough to tourist areas, next to restaurants and bars, with food shops close by. Metro (lines 1 & 4) within 5 minutes walk. Line 1 goes directly to both major train stations (Chamartin & Atocha)... More

This hotel was lovely, very, very clean. Food was nice and staff really friendly and helpful. In a nice quiet street not far from bars and restaurants and really close to the metro. 2 stops from central Madrid. We were going to mad cool festival at caja de magica and this location was perfect just a few stops on the... More

The staff is very nice and helpful but what can they do about a hotel that seems it should have been deserted. Needs improvements in the building, rooms, lighting to be considered a place to stay. The location is very good and near the metro. If they fix up the place they can have a great hotel.

This is an elegant looking, professional and good hotel. It is in a good location, quiet and safe. The room is huge, bathroom is excellent. The beds are big and with beautiful decor, but the bed was very firm such that sleep quality was the only thing that we can fault. Finally, the price and value for money was excellent.

Nice hotel with "history" flavour, nice neighborhood! But!!! Please note, that Madrid AJdA hotel does not have a swiming pool & spa... Pity-pity... They told me that only their hotel somewhere on the coast has those...

Stayed with another couple. Rooms were clean, friendly staff. Whilst it was old and slightly worn-out in some cases, it was well maintained. A definite plus is a metro station just few mins walk from hotel. You can find food and drinks from nearby Plaza. Hotel is located away from typical tourist traps which makes it a good choice for... Staying in Chamberi

Neighborhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighborhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
