I just spent a week at the Hostal Zamora, my third time there in a year. As before, the room was very clean, the air conditioning good, and the helpfulness of the staff excellent. The location is perfect both for visiting important tourist sites as well as for getting to know Madrid more like a local. There is nothing at... More

Hostal Zamora is in a cute building in central madrid. The staff speak English and are super friendly, and the bed was uber comfortable. I booked a single room and was in a large room with 2 single beds and double doors opening to a cute tiny balcony overlooking the square below. The was a budget place, but it had... More

My friend and I chose Hostal Zamora for a 3-night stay in Madrid based on the TA reviews, and were not disappointed. Our room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the central location was perfect. The bathroom was small but adequate. The A/C was the best one we encountered in Spain. It was a small, quiet unit, but was... More

This is a very well located hostal in the heart of Madrid, where you can walk to all the most interesting places of Madrid and come back late for a good shower and a restful night. All the staff members are very friendly and helpful, specifically Jose, that kindly helped me to unlock the stuck padlock of my luggage. Rooms... More

Clean, safe and centrally located. Great for the price. Close to the major attractions. Close to bus and train stations. Staff very personable and helpful. Bathroom were a little small. Rooms were cleaned daily.

For a cheap place to rest your head this is perfect. However if we were to go again, I think we would spend a little more for extras. The room was a good sized but the bathroom was tiny with no windows so it got very hot and steamy. Beds were comfortable enough. The view of the square is pretty... More

Had a wonderful time at the Hostal Zamora. Staff were really friendly, place was clean, Beds comfortable. It's quiet and we had a wonderful view from our room. The Zamora was central, close to the metro, bars and restaurants. (5 mns walk from the subway station "Chueca". ). Free wifi. Will definitely come back. Excellent stay, thank you very much... More

I don't give 5 stars only because the room smelled of smoke when I arrived. It took two day getting rid of it. Very nice guys at the reception and great central location. Negative: you have to buzz the reception every time you want to get in.

We found out our reservation didn't go through when we arrived at this hostel. The proprietor was the most hostile, unhelpful jerk I've yet run into in all five weeks in Spain. The anti fraud hoops Priceline wanted us to jump through themselves looked like some kind of phishing scam. I won't be using them again either. Otherwise I've had... More

A great budget hostal in the Chueca district. Friendly staff, clean rooms. Great location and very reasonably priced for Madrid. Perfect place to rest and sleep at night because during the day you will be out and about. Tiny negative - no iron available.

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
