The hostel is located very close to Puerta del Sol, in the very centre of the city of Madrid. There is a metro station so it's easy to go everywhere from the hostel. There is a lot of noise, both from the outside (there are two Irish pubs just next to the hostel, on both sides...) and from the inside... More

This is a great place to stay. It's precisely in the center, really easy access and secure. The room itself was big and very clean, the bathroom was really clean, the air conditioner worked really well, and the balcony of the room led to a view of the city itself. The Wi-Fi signal was weak but it was enough for... More

Stayed two nights. Wifi was a bit weak in our room. The rooms are rather small but clean and offer the necessary. Friendly staff. Probably good for backpackers and young people. Location is right in the heart of Madrid

The rates were good, our room was clean. It had Wifi which was very important to me. The outside entrance required a code to get in which they didn't tell us about but we figured out how to get in. The person checking us in didn't speak any English and wasn't friendly or helpful. The price was right and we... More

We stayed in a Superior Room with city view. We couldn't have asked for better (considering what we paid). A lovely modern bathroom (private) - very compact but clean and great shower. Two extremely comfortable double beds, good quality towels and bed linen. Air conditioning if required but we didn't need it - hustle and bustle below so some noise... More

Stopped over on our way back from holiday just to break up the trip. Definitely not fancy but the price isn't either. Ok for just a crash. It was difficult to find. The sign is up very high and the doorbell has it listed as Alaska and not Oliver. Luckily someone helped us out that spoke Spanish since we weren't... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
