I am forced to write this review immediately after checkin. I had booked through the Radisson website , where the description of the premium room with balcony talked about fancy descriptions like “Our premium rooms with balcony are ideal if you enjoy spacious surroundings “. The reservation was for 2 adults and one 8 year old kid. The photos on the website showed fancy furniture , upholstery etc. The moment I booked, my credit card was charged, effectively locking the money in. Somehow I started getting suspicious about a week back and called them multiple times requesting for a paid suite upgrade. Even though clearly there were available suites in the website they refused to do the upgrade. When I reached the hotel , the reception was a mess - had to wait for 20 min before somebody actually managed to provide the room key and that too he was more interested in knowing which credit card to charge extras to rather than welcoming . Interestingly the treatment meted out to a white family checking in at the same time was dramatically better including a free upgrade to a suite. Once you enter the room however the real shock awaits you - the room is small , dark and dingy , a chit had been taken out and placed outside the room to fit an extra bed on which nobody can sleep comfortably , the washroom is worse than a hostel washroom , there are hardly enough bathrobes , towels and toiletries for three . The saga continues …..

Dear Mr Ray, First and foremost, thank you for taking the time in sharing your opinion. I feel quite impressed about your experience as this has never happened before and I can ensure Mohamed is exceptional. Certainly our Premium Rooms are big enough for 2 adults and 1 kid...but of course it depends on your own preferences and likes... as we have never had a single complaint about that situation before. Regarding the upgrade to a Junior Suite or a Suite I can also ensure there was no availability for your stay as it was me who replied to your call yesterday morning when you enquiried about this again and once again we informed you that there is no availability. You booked through booking.com so I am not quite sure what availability was shown there, but I can guarantee that on our official website there was no availability- as I informed you yesterday over the phone. Moreover, no guest was offered a free upgrade to a Junior Suite or Suite-- they were all booked directly by the guests from the beggining, hence why we do not have availability to offer you one. As you can understand if we would have availability to offer you one we would have of course given you the option. On the other hand, if there is anything you need in your room you just need to call Reception dialing number 8 from your phone and we will deliver anything you need- but there are amenities from all types in the bathroom that are replaced on daily basis, as well as the big amenities inside the shower... But, once again, should you need more you just need to ask for more. There is one bathrobe behind the bathroom door and the second one is inside the room´s wardrobe... If you are refering to the bathrobe for the kid unfortunately we do not have smaller sizes. I do apologise for the inconveniences you experienced or if the Hotel is not up to your liking or expectations, but once again that is not the type of service that we and Mohamed give at all...Again sorry that you got that impression from us. As you are still in the Hotel pleased do let us know what we can do to improve your experience and change the impression. I will be more than happy to personally assist you with anything you need. Regards, María Fernández-Llebrez Guest Service Manager

Hotel's Favorite
Was greeted warmly by Muhammad on the evening that we arrived at this fabulous hotel. The hotel is very central to all the attractions including the Prado, the Park, the shops, amazing buildings and incredible restaurants. Our suite was just perfect for our 6 day stay. Stylish, spacious, comfortable and clean. Loved the art in the reception area. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were incredibly helpful and very friendly. It was my birthday that week and Lyn at the desk had remembered me mentioning it and on my actual birthday she came personally to our room and presented me with a cake and candle. I was truly touched by her kindness and how she helped me with restaurant choices that I had requested. In fact everyone at the reception were wonderful. We tried the hotel restaurant and bar. The food and wine were excellent and it was made even more special by the service of Andrei who was exceptionally efficient and very friendly. We will always have very fond memories of this gem of a hotel. When we come back to Madrid, which we will, we would not hesitate to come back here. Thank you Radisson Blu for making our very first experience of Madrid so very very special.

We loved the property and amenities but save your spa experience for somewhere else. For some reason the hotel pool is located INSIDE the spa. I had no reason to realize this until about 10 minutes into my hour-long massage (for 100eu) when a couple came to the pool with their VERY noisy toddler . . . I have never had such a distracting spa experience in my life!! I commented to the masseuse THREE times about the noise and she did nothing about it. As well I made comment on the way out the door and wasn't even offered what I felt was a sincere apology. I should have told her to see them for her tip as I was so frustrated upon leaving that I didn't leave one and I hardly EVER do such things.

Dear Ttowner, Thank you for taking the time in sharing your opinion. Your feedback is very valuable to us as it is what keeps us improving on daily basis. I am glad you had an overall good stay with us, I would like to apologise for the inconvenience experienced in the SPA. However, the pool is part of the SPA circuit (pool + hamman) reason why it is inside the spa and, unfortunately, children are allowed with their parents. Nonetheless, I completely understand your frustration as of course they should respect the silence in the SPA as it is an area to unwind and relax. Yet we look forward to welcoming you back soon so we can provide you with a different impression. Regards, María Fernández-Llebrez Guest Service Manager

Well located hotel with nice friendly staff. Clean rooms and bathrooms, with excellent shower. One downside was 2 very old worn out rugs at the entrance which gives guests a first impression of a badly maintained hotel. Having said that everything else was very nice

Dear SPR-Marbella, Thank you for taking the time in sharing your opinion. I am pleased to see you had an overall good stay with us. I have taken note of your comments as we of course take them into consideration. However, the rugs are not old at such- they are like that on purpose so they give the kind of vintage look to the Hotel- and they are of course cleaned as they are done so on regular basis. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Regards, María Fernández-Llebrez Guest Service Manager

Wow! Flights were very delayed and we didn't arrive until after midnight. The man who checked us in was very kind, cheerful and helpful. He made us feel welcome. The front desk staff during our stay was always helpful and pleasant. Our room was FANTASTIC, 20 foot ceilings (!!), a tiny balcony and so clean. The breakfast buffet was of excellent quality and the staff made sure we were very full. Never needed to eat lunch. The location is perfect. Walkable to literally everything in the Centro. Restaurants everywhere. The Prado is across the street. There is a grocery store around the corner. Also, it is a quick walk to Atocha station. With so many options in Madrid, it was difficult to choose a hotel. I settled on the Radisson as it seemed to be an excellent value; it is. For the money, I don't think you can beat it. If I come back to Madrid, this is where I will be staying.

Not impressed if I’m honest. The front desk staff were dismissive and unhelpful. Our room had an opaque window so we could not see out!!! Even when you opened the window you could only see a brick wall, no sky at all, so it was impossible to see what the weather was like! The spa was closed, the lifts out of order for a while and there was the most foul smell next to the lifts on the 4th floor. We returned to our room at 4pm for a siesta and the room had not been serviced, we requested that the following day it was done at 10am, so we could have a rest when we got back from a walking tour, when we returned at 3.30 it was just being done. Staff not bothered in the slightest. The location is good, but I am sure there are far better hotels for the money.

Dear Helen, Thank you for taking the time in sharing your opinion. It saddens me to read that your experience with us did not meet your expectations, Unfortunately, our Standard rooms are all interior so may I suggest you to try one of our Premium room next time, which is bigger, with a balcony and views to the square- as I am sure this would fit much more what you are looking for. I would like to apologise for the inconveniences you encountered and I have taken all the meassures needed to avoid this from happening again and I hoe you give us a second chance to change the impression you got from us as this is by far not the level of service we usually give. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Regards, María Fernández-Llebrez Guest Service Manager
