Went there last summer with three friends. At first we weren't able to find the apartment, and we were given our keys a bit late (there's no reception, a man came to give us keys and to be paid), but that wasn't a big problem. The apartment was nice and clean, we also cooked there easily. The place is really...

There are no signs at the address of the apartments so we didn't even know if it was the right place. There is no reception there and luckily some locals rang the lady. She had emailed me a few hours before saying you have to ring 30 min before you turn up but I never had wifi so no help.....

little room and the bedroom is outside of the room. The keys are not identified! We had to call to the skoosh to ask the number of the hotel to call, therefore, to the responsable to the hotel because there´s no exist reception and the building was closed. We stayed in the "slopping ceiling" room - you can only actually stand up by the entrance door- which doesn't open fully as it is stopped by the bed. The room was very dirty, there are big cracks in the walls and there was a patch of ceiling about a metre squared where there has been water damage- all the...

We stayed at this attic appartment (rooms were also available) last January and we were satisfied, in general. As it is an appartment, there is no reception, so you have to call the owners to bring you the keys. After this, you were on your own as there was no daily service (cleaning etc). The only problem with the attic...

Staying in Lavapies

Neighborhood Profile
Walking into this neighborhood is like entering a different country ... except it's hard to tell which one it is. One side of Calle Lavapiés is lined with Indian restaurants, the other with kebab shops. Men in traditional African clothing convene outside their businesses for long chats, and people shout to each other across plazas and streets. Interspersed among ethnic specialty shops are independent theaters and dance studios, and two large arts and cultural centers — the beautiful Casa Encendida and the Tabacalera, a former tobacco factory — all of which attract young crowds. Along Calle Argumosa, the place to go for drinks, artists and art appreciators with piercings and dreadlocks convene in the street’s eclectic array of young, hip bars. Though some of the side streets can get a little seedy at night, Lavapiés is still the place to go for those seeking a unique blend of arts and culture in an international and funky neighborhood.
