We stayed here two nights as part of a three week back packing holiday of central Spain. Having already spent five nights in a beautiful self catering apartment in Madrid earlier in our holiday , we wanted a few nights before returning home and 114 euros for two nights on grand via was cheap. Room was good ,clean tidy and...

The best thing is location! Just two steps to almost any tourist attraction! Well, we has some communication difficulties when checked-in: we did not speak Spanish and the staff did not speak English. Luckily, there was an Italian-speaking maid and we could understand each other :) The staff was even so nice to cool our beverages! :) Our room was...

Have just returned from a short stay in Madrid with my mother. We stayed at Hostal Josefina and I am happy to write a fair review. Some aspects of the accommodation are above average. For example, the location of Hostal Josefina could not be better; right in the centre of Madrid, on the Gran Via and directly next to Callao...

It has a great location, with many interesting places really close (Parque de El Retiro, Palacio Real, Templo de Basod, etc.). However, it was not a great inn, many things were damaged, and you could hear every noise in the other rooms. Anyways, if you are going just to sleep there I would recommend it.

We went to Madrid for the beatification of Bishop Alvaro del Portillo. After consulting TripAdvisor we booked our hotel in Hostal Josefina along Calle Gran Via and stayed there for 4 days. As we pre booked and paid all charges by credit card, check-in and check-out was a breeze. The room was cleaned daily, air-conditioner, shower and toillett work well....

I spent four nights in this hotel last week and was overall very impressed. The room was always very clean, the bed was very comfy and with the hotel being on the 7th floor we only heard the buzz of traffic at night which was more than easy to sleep through (especially if you've had a busy day exploring madrid!)...

All in all it is a good value for money for a budget trip: reasonable cleanliness, free wifi connection, regular change of towels, change of bed linen more than once a week, located in the center. The only thing that disappointed me was a complete lack of soundproofing which may affect you on weekends.

This is a small pension on the 7th floor of a building that appeared to house several other hostals of its kind. I had room 8 and it served my needs perfectly. I was in town for a conference and on a budget. This place was €25 per night. On night was paid a week before arrival and the other...

It has a great location, really at the center, with two metro stations nearby (Callao and Sol)! You can't ask for better than that! The double room I booked was small, but really tidy and more modern than I expected. It is an excellent quality/price deal. The staff is nice, but as I haven't heard them speak in English I...

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
