this hotel had a great location, right by the main street and walking distance to all major attractions. There is an Adult move store below the hotel - however we did not see anyone go in or out. The owner is super nice, however she does not speak english. There was another lady with her that could translate though. She...

This hotel had a great location - we could walk everywhere. At night it was a bit noisy from the streets. There was a strip club/movie rental but we never saw anyone coming in or out. The room was really nicely decorated and clean. The kitchen was great. The opener Claudia was really nice but didn't speak English.

The owner of the apartment is very helpful and is always willing to answer questions. The apartments are very close to everything you need to see in Madrid.

I got more than I expected from this apartment. I traveled to Madrid with friends and we just wanted to find something cheap for a few days, but it turned out to have many more amenities than I expected! Great: -TV, WIFI internet (which I thought they DID NOT have before I went, but I was wrong), -kitchen already stocked...

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
