Spent 3 nights at the end of august 2011. It's ok, I mean, it's a hostel in centre of a very noisy city, and it's seriously cheap (22 euros per night for a single room with private bathroom). The room is essential, looks like a university college, no air conditioning obviously. Bed and bathroom were clean, floor was dusty. The...

This place is bare bones people! It's the first place where I've had to do the shared bathroom thing, which is fine. It's a university dorm, so you can imagine the size. But it's very clean, despite it's shabbiness, and so central. I'm a 10-15 minute walk from the area with the shopping, restaurants, churches and plaza's, so for that...

We had a twin room on the third floor. The room is essentially student digs so don't expect anything fancy, but the room was clean and perfectly fine for a couple of nights on the cheap to explore Madrid. Staff were helpful and friendly. The shared bathroom was clean. No complaints about the place. Excellent location across the road from...

location is good- right off plaza espana and 1 block to the metro stop. there is no arti 2 sign- the building is a 4 story student residence hostel. you get a small room with a bed, desk, chair and storage cabinet. no tv or heater or air conditioner or sink. the bathrooms are shared. since it's a student residence,...

located centrally this hostel is ideal for the backpacker or someone in transit. hostel is very clean and staff friendly.. hostel is priced accordingly, no frills.. common room with computers, bar and restaurant are located off premises about 200 m . located near the main street, where ambulance and police sirens were frequent, maybe just the night we were there.

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
