Myself and my partner stayed here for 3 nights. The rooms are basic but is all you need as you are out and about in this big city. There is a tv in the room. Only negative is the pillows are way to soft. The staff are really friendly and speak reasonable English

Hostal Union is centrally located, just a few steps from lively Gran Via and pedestrian zones nearby. Staff and especially Julio is excellent and always in a good mood. The rooms are basic, with a tiny bathroom (the bigger men might have an issue to sit on toilette), the wi-fi is very poor. Altogether, the price/value is however very high...

Excelent rooms, right in the middle of the city. Close to shops, to local atractions and 5 minutes away from the center of Madrid. I will deffinetly chose this hotel for my next trip to Spain's capital.

Basic Hostel right in the heart of Madrids shopping and nightlife. Cute old fashioned decor, friendly and very helpful staff. Only downside were the tiny bathroom, paper thin walls and no laundry facility. Otherwise clean, safe, close to public transport and all Madrid hotspots.

Basic rooms in Chueca. Bathroom extremely small. A person with long legs can not use the WC and have to use a bathroom in the corridor. The rooms were very clean. The Staff was very friendly and serviceminded. They all spoke pretty good english.

The hotel is nice, but can be easily confused with another hostel in the same building (Hostal San Lorenzo). In fact, even the other hostel looked at my reservation, didn't find me in their system and still rented a room to us, matching Hostal Union's price! After we figured out we were in the wrong hotel, we found Hostal Union's...

I was in Madrid more then 10 times but this was my first experience staying at a hostel. Initially I was looking for smth between Plaza de Espana and Plaza de Cibeles. Hostal Union has a super good location when you can reach everything by foot in short time. There're a lot of restaurants nearby, small supermarkets. Rooms are very...

I'd have loved this place if it was a tad cheaper. I paid €30 each of two nights I was there and it was ok, good bathroom, decent size, clean place, good service, good location. I'd say a good price would be 25, 20 if you're staying more nights.

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
