This really is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. It claims "old-fashioned charm", and promises that its shortcomings will be rectified in a forthcoming "refurbishment". However it will take more than a physical refurbishment to change the complacency and low levels of service. If it were in any other location it would not survive. I'm not going... More

Dear SurreyVisitor_10, I believe that we have already had a seperate, brief, e-mail exchange on the subject of your stay and on this basis I feel that it would not be over-productive to comment further via this forum. As you can imagine, one 'excellent' review in isolation is not a major cause for self-congratulation and in the same vein one... More

We have been to Gibraltar so many times and always stay here for its atmosphere and service. It is an outpost of Britishness in the sun.Tapas meets roast beef.Glass of sherry on arrival sets the civilized tone. Most of the older staff seem to have been there for ever which says a lot.Minutes walk from centre. As the Hotel says,it is an... I was at a christening in Gibraltar a few weeks ago I am from Dublin and the people that had the Christening held a breakfast organised for the people who attended it was really good . Staying here is like a trip back in time! The rooms are comfortable, views from the balcony spectacular, and watching the apes on the roof of the dining room is cute! Don't omit to see the writing desks in the lounge area, which could have been on the Titanic. However it does have free Wifi, hurrah, so you can bypass... More

We stayed again in Feb 2013 with some friends coming along for the weekend too. There have been some changes in Management for the Rock and their are refurbishments ongoing to the Pool area(Open April I think). We had a good time and the best things about the Rock Hotel namely the View, WiFi, easy parking, the friendly staff and... More

Dear fortysix, Thank you for your comments. It would appear that you enjoyed your stay but I note your observations about our food, for which we have a coveted AA rosette. This is a first class experience. It's built against the base of The Rock so every room looks out across the the bay. At night, there were 30+ vessels at anchor with their lights on, with the lights of Spain behind them. It appears that every room has a balcony with chairs and table to enhance your viewing pleasure. Rooms... More

Spent 4 nights at the Rock Hotel Gibraltar. Great location overlooking harbour. Hotel staff very friendly and attentive. Hotel environment very relaxing, lounge area, bar and resturant very smart and quiet and relaxing to sit down in and take in the views. Hotel does look very tired both externally and internally, requires a major re-decoration and refurbishment, didn't spoil our... More

My wife and I staid here for a night while on our honeymoon. The GPS was unable to find it, so we had to loop around a bit before we found it, but it is actually off a fairly main road. I do not believe the hotel has been updated since at least the 80s, but there was nothing awful... More

I stayed here on business for three nights in March 2013 for business. A taxi ride from the airport is £9 if you want to walk it will be about 45 minutes. Polite, helpful service throughout our 3 night stay. Rooms comfortable but in need of refurbishment. We found the rooms quite cold during the night so you need to bring your thickest pj's! Very steep climb back to the hotel so if you have trouble walking make sure you come back to the hotel by taxi. Fantastic views from the bedroom... More
