Altair hotel was just what Rick Steve’s’ guidebook said it was. An old rustic stone-walled building remodeled with sleek wood, unique indirect light fixtures, and a very large, well appointed bathroom. We had room 301 on the top floor which had skylight windows that opened, bringing in a fresh breeze so that air conditioning was not necessary. it is true... More

An exemplary small hotel in just about every respect: modern and classy, but not expensive; very friendly staff; a clean, quiet, and spacious room; convenient parking in a nearby parking garage; located just a short walk from the main sights; and a good and varied breakfast next morning for just 7 Euro - an easy recommendation.

Boutique means plenty of wood and bare walls in the lobby and attractively furnished rooms with large, clean, comfortable beds. The staff are pleasant, friendly and keen to help, sometimes a trifle too much. The breakfast is a simple cold spread with fine ingredients, which do not vary, so after 3 days one can wish for a little more choice... More

Spacious, friendly, quiet hotel just steps from the old city. This was the perfect mini-splurge at the end of our Camino. Thought I'd practice my hard earned Spanish, but nearly everyone here spoke English. Breakfast was special and our two night stay was restful after hiking so many days in a row. Highly recommend Altair Hotel!

What a beautiful place to stay for 3 nights after our Camino of Portugal, welcoming, great service and location and breakfast was amazing as we ordered it for our room so we didn't have to get up on our first morning after our Camino. Was a little bit louder in the evening and mornings but this could be down to... More

Located close to the main squares - but enough removed to get a good nights sleep - the Altair was a perfect way to end a 5-week walk on the Camino. The rooms are nice and the bathtub was especially appreciated- and the very helpful staff gave us many excellent tips. The breakfast was exquisite, in particular the generous variety... More

My wife and I stayed for 5 nights and it was enjoyable for the start with the very helpful and friendly Pepa welcoming us and offering the advice we sought regarding restaurants. One of her favourites - Taberna do Bispo - proved to be ours also. The little bar just round the corner from the hotel has a great selection... More

As most reviews indicate this is a really nice, boutique hotel that is situated right on the edge of the old town. It is an easy 10 minute walk to the famous Cathedral. Parking can, however,be a bit of challenge.Street parking can be found and it is cheap. Rooms in this period building are modern, well sized, well appointed and very comfortable. They... More

Stayed here for 3 nights. Great location, quiet, hotel is wonderfully restored and decorated with interesting detail. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful regarding local attractions, parking and how to get to other places of interest in the region. The breakfast was superb and well worth the money.
