This is the kind of hotel that I would really look for. I really enjoyed staying in a hotel which is located in the heart of the city attractions. The check-in procedure is so computerized, which is fast. Although it lacks the personal human touch, however, voice over the intercom assisted the checking in procedure. Fast which is efficient. Our room was just on the first floor, no lift available, but it's ok. The building is kind of old, which is as I expected for this was an old town. I like it even. Then I was greeted by the very nice room. It was well lit, and the ambience was as I expected it, rustic but homey. This hotel is just a few steps away to the Cathedral, restaurants, and shops. I can't ask for more. The day came for us to check-out, it was a Sunday, there was a lady at the reception! She was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely come back to this hotel.

Yes the hotel is located right near the cathedral and many restaurants and shops. Yes it is quaint and retains old world charm. However, the bed was very uncomfortable and had a plastic mattress cover that was creased and lumpy. There is no elevator, no parking nearby, no one to help with anything after 4pm. It’s on a street that’s inaccessible to unauthorized cars, so you can’t park in front to unload luggage. We had to drag our bags several blocks uphill and then up the stairs to the 3rd floor. The young lady at the desk was very pleasant and helpful.

Stayed after Portugues Camino. Proximity to cathedral is a huge draw. Clean. Fridge. Self check in. Downside is no luggage storage unless you use thier sister Hotel Virxa de Cerca which is far. But good place to stay and nice character to rooms.

After walk the Camino I wanted a little bit of luxury for a few days at the end . So let's get the things that people moan about out of the way. Reception , this is an extremely small hotel , the room rates would have to be increased hugely to have 24 hr staff . Other hotels are run by the shop attached to them !!! Lift , no lift . But that's not unusual in these small hotels in the old town. Street noise , yep Santiago is a noisy town , expect footfall to at least 2 am esp on the street side of any hotel. Bells , the bells do not have an off switch , quarter hour chimes plus hourly dongs will be heard all over the old town 24 hrs a day. The closer the the cathedral the louder it will be , a catch 22 situation. Review proper . My single room was small but was exactly as I expected ( see brochure photos ) . Very clean and tidy. Tea and coffee facilities, these were topped up each day as items were used , this included a new bottle of water if the old one was empty. Bed comfortable and remade every day. Tv if you understand Spanish , having said that watching the Big Bang Theory in Spanish was entertaining. Nice shower. Friendly helpful staff ( who know how to smile ) . The visitors entrance to the cathedral is just a very short walk away . There is a cafe just next door , but to be honest there are cafes everywhere here. I thought it was a lovely location . Depending on your musical taste , as it is on the opposite side , you can't hear the bagpipes which are wonderful for the first 50 times but can grate a little ... Hehe .

It served the purpose of my visit, but you really have to look somewhere else, should you have high expectations when it comes to getting the american standard of a hotel room, as this one has an old fashioned decor. It is very clean, the bed is great, the AC unit works well. I had to close the windows to cancel the cathedral bells ringing, which occur every 15 minutes. Shower is tight. WIFI works at times. Reception works in the morning and was always closed by the time I got back in the afternoon. You can check-in by means of a do it yourself machine at the entrance. Have your reservation number handy. I recommend it though, due to the excellent location
