This was my 5th stay at this parador. Everything is excellent! It is not only that you are staying at a hotel, but it IS the building and the experience of staying there! You have been transformed to the 15th century, but with all of the modern amenities! You must experience this parador! Staff are competent, friendly, and always helpful!... More

Great way to end the Camino. Our room on the 4th floor was a lovely retreat with old world Spanish charm that overlooked one of the courtyards. A great breakfast buffet was included. Dinner in the main dining room was wonderful; ordered the tasting menu. Don't forget to visit the areas exclusive to guests only: walk the entire 3rd floor... More

We arrived very late at the Parador in Santiago de Compostela but the Parador at Leon had phoned ahead and we were able to have a hot meal at 10:30 pm! The Parador is a sumptuous, former hospital for pilgrims to the tomb of the saint. The city buzzes with pilgrims and tourists, buskers and souvenir shops. The cathedral is... More

Dear guest, I have to congratulate you for acomplising the Camino de Santiago and honour us for having lodged at Paradores as Hostal San Marcos in León and Hostal Reyes Católicos in Santiago, two of the Royal Hospitals of Pilgrims from the XVI century. I wish the Camino was an unforgetable experience to you, and hope in your next Camino... More

We arrived in Santiago de Compostela after a long week of backpacking. The Parador has the perfect location, right in the square next to the Cathedral. The hotel is amazing. No question it was the most fabulous hotel I have visited. Our room was on the main level with a king size four poster bed, a sitting area, amazing bathroom,... More

The experience in staying at the oldest hotel in the world was like staying in a castle. History was retained but with modern comfort. It's a 5 star accommodation in the heart of the big square right beside the cathedral. Best location you can have in the old town. Walking to sights, restaurants and shops. But it may feel eerie... Got an upgraded room, large with more than enough room, bathroom had been completely modernized, new fixtures, and spacious. I was fortunate to spend two nights here. Location across from the Cathedral made this so easy. The staff was very friendly in spite of the large amount of "traffic" (tourists, guests and pilgrims) coming in and out of the hotel.... More

We started our tour of Galicia, with a two night stay at this Parador and I could not have asked for a better start to our holiday. Everything about this place was fantastic, from the moment we pulled the car up out front and handed over the keys to the moment we left was just perfect and breathtaking. The hotel... More

The Parador at Santiago offers much, but also is in need of refurbishing, especially the furnishings. That said, the bed was comfortable, and the marble bathroom was modern, spacious and well lighted. There was plenty of hot water and good quality toiletries. The buffet breakfast was delicious, and ample, with fresh fruits, in-house baked pastries and breads, eggs, meats, cheese,... More

A renowned site for rest poste the arduous pilgrims' treck. A superb and luxuriously converted Convent in which to regain a sense of balance to the realities of the modern commercial world. Discrete, quiet and rich in appointments, the inclusive legendary breakfast is well suited to return one to the excesses of the 21st February.

Royal Hospital, late 15th century pilgrim¿s hostelCombining history, art and tradition, the goal of pilgrims and the emblem of St. James, the Hostal dos Reis Católicos, in the Plaza do Obradoiro, forms together with the cathedral one of the world’s most remarkable, and most visited, urban settings. The Hostal, which first saw life as a Royal Hospital in 1499 to house the many pilgrims arriving in Santiago, today still invites the traveller to enjoy this universal and fascinating city.
