Stayed here at the end of my Camino. Room was basic and perfunctory, but very clean. Bathroom was also very clean, they do everything to keep Corona out. Unfortunately due to Corona the breakfast was extremely simple and not tasty at all, but the breakfast room was amazing. Unfortunately the walls are very thin and the hallways are very "echoey", so I was woken up several times by pilgrims coming home late and deciding to have a loud chat in the hallway. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Great storage areas for luggage and bike. And of course the building is incredible and perfectly located in Santiago, just on the other side of the street is the Cathedral.
Perfectly located near to the Santiago Cathedral and Pilgrims Museum The Monasterio San Martin Pinario offers a wonderful experience to its guests and pilgrims. Peaceful and calm nights after weeks of walking on the Saint James Way through the Pyrénées after stop in Melide, Astorgo, Leon and Burgos we arrived to the heart of Santiago de Compostela to complete our Pilgrimage. Perfect Welcome, Perfect Service and lovely and cosy atmosphere.
Very unique stay right in midst of SdC. Our room (cell) was twin bedded and just enough space to get into bed (one side hard up against wall). Suitcases under the bed was only way to move. Challenging to have to move the bed each time you need something from suitcase! One person bathroom size was also challenging
I had booked a room for me and my husband—pilgrims on the Camino Francés—way back at the end of April. On arrival, check-in was more drawn out than at much smaller lodgings. Our assigned room was nothing special; small, with good bathroom and window. But I had hoped, given my early advance booking and no-cancellation policy, we would be rewarded with a better-than-basic room that could’ve been given to walk-ins. Otherwise, the staff were fine and the location close to the Cathedral and church of San Francisco are helpful. A little customer service tweaking and room finessing wouldn’t hurt, given that Santiago is every pilgrim’s final destination. It would be nice to feel really welcome!
I always stay at San Martin Pinario: important to reserve a ‘peregrino’ room in advance via email - you must show credenciale to secure room upon arrival . Can’t beat 25€ for clean simple ensuite private room with all you-can-eat breakfast included. A nice break after weeks of dorm living. The building retains its original character; on site dining room and lounge are a plus. The staff is wonderful: welcoming, helpful and competent in spite of constant activity. As mentioned in so many other reviews - location is perfect.
