Just five minutes walk from the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, is the Alda Algalia Hotel, without doubt one of the best value hotels in the city. The Hotel Alda Algalia has the privilege of occupying an old mansion from 1796 completely restored and full of charm. Its unbeatable location combined with a careful decoration, give this hotel a unique identity of Compostela. Another highlight is its breakfast service with buffet, half-day menus and dinners from its exclusive kitchen. Its different types of rooms have a guarantee for the traveler who is looking for comfort and convenience both for their stop on the Camino de Santiago and for families, couples, groups and all those who visit Santiago for work reasons. All of them have private bathroom, heating and television.

I have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Alda Algalia. This hotel is in a great location to wonder the narrow streets of Santiago De Compostela. Upon check in we were greeted by a very friendly lady who checked us in and ensured we had all we needed. My room was very clean and had all I needed for the stay. The bed was comfortable and the shower had enough pressure to wash away the cobwebs and make sure I was set for the day. Breakfast is buffet style with plenty of choice. All staff encountered over the two days were friendly and helpful and I would recommend this hotel for anyone planning a trip to the area.

We booked this hotel because the price was attractive and the hotel well situated in the upper end of the old town, within easy walking distance to the Cathedral, convenient for a long-stay car park (we had a hired car because we wanted to visit A Coruna and Lugo) and close to the pick up point for two guided tours we had booked. If you have a hired car, you need to find your way to the Parking La Salle on the Rua Ramon de la Valle Inclan, and get your parking ticket stamped by the hotel reception. Present it to the attendant on your return (24 hour attended service) and you will receive a small reduction. Our room was 304 which was accessed by the lift, and was large and light. The french windows opened onto a small balcony and the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The bathroom had everything we needed, plenty of hot water and new towels each day. Our room was spotlessly clean, the WiFi worked well and we heard no noise from any of the hotel rooms, although there was some noise from outside - bin collection - which is only to be expected. Breakfast was a reasonable price (5€) and there was a selection of cereals, juice, bread, ham, cheese, yogurt, fresh fruit and pastries. However the hotel did not have any black tea, only infusions, so we bought some. We found that the breakfast start time of 08H30 was a bit late for us on the days we had booked coach tours, but managed to have breakfast and then dash off to the pick up point - very few of the other guests seemed to take breakfast. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and made our stay delightful. Thank you so much for your kindness and welcome. Altogether a comfortable and clean hotel and each day we felt as though we were 'coming home'. Excellent value for what we paid.

This tucked out of the way beautiful hotel was just what I needed after walking from Lisbon to Santiago on the Portuguese Camino. Lovely hotel with nice rooms with a restaurant off the beaten track so that you could recharge after a long journey. I stayed here three nights before returning to Lisbon. Loved this hotel and will definitely return for another stay

My husband and I stayed her after walking 200 miles of the Camino de Santiago. We really wanted somewhere to relax and that's what we got. Rooms are clean and spacious with high ceilings with wooden beams which I liked. The room we had had two sets of French doors which would be nice to open on warm days. The hotel is situated not far from the Cathedral, which is why we picked it. Also, the price was reasonable for the location and other hotels surrounding it were more expensive. There is some noise issues with bars and restaurants being so close and bin emptying throughout the night - although this wasn't an issue for me as it is right in the heart of the Old Town - it might be an issue for others. I would definitely recommend.

This little hotel was the best find, we enjoyed a beautiful room that was pristine. Balconies overlooking the streets of Santiago de Campostela were a bonus. All day breakfast and snacks, refreshments and espresso coffee downstairs and the best service from staff. I will definitely be back next year after my next Camino and enjoy the fluffy white towels!
