Good stay in general. However, I did not appreciate the restaurant but probably someone else would appreciate it. I believe the air-conditioning is centralized and not individual. Which does not let you manage the temperature at your convenience. Heating works well.
This was my first stay in a hotel after COVID-19 started. Well... I honestly don't want to stay in any hotel until the pandemic is over and things are back to normal. Although the staff was very kind, attentive and helpful, and tried their very best to make my stay great, the overall facilities were disappointing... I stayed for a week in a second half of August, at the peak of holiday season. Usually Sitges is totally full at that time of the year, this time it was eerily empty. Well, not totally empty, but noticeably empty, with many restaurants and shops closed for good. First shock: Level lounge is closed! I have a Platinum status with Melia and was hoping to relax at the lounge, to work from there and to have a few cheeky drinks from their open bar. On itself the fact of lounge closure is OK - I am capable of buying my own drink, but the weird thing is that I wanted to impress a friend with the lounge access. I chose the hotel, partly, based on that and specifically called the hotel beforehand to check that the lounge is open. And yet... closed. Along with business center. No compensation for the lounge closure. I didn't get room type I booked: instead of pool view room, I got the hill view room (which is not bad, actually, but lower category). This was weird, but I didn't argue. It seemed like the hotel was quite full. The room was nice and recently refurbished, in typical Melia modern style. Weird thing: there was no safe! This is usually a standard feature. Oh well.. I didn't complain. No tea/coffee making facilities in-room. This was a big disappointment and also meant that you have to pay for all teas and coffees you want to have. Limit of max 2 people in a lift meant that there was a long wait for a lift. Use of masks made the whole communication with hotel staff weird: the fact that you can't see facial expressions makes communication harder, especially if you are a foreigner... I did get a bonus points promo and spent them on food and board (was that meant to compensate for a lack of tea and coffee making facilities in-room?). I was working for a few days from the hotel and the management kindly agreed to open one of the meeting rooms for me, so I could use a proper office chair and desk to work. Overall, it was a nice stay but... it felt weird. Better to keep the expectations low.…
This is a nice hotel. The room was recently renovated and immaculate but the lobby and communal hallways were a little dated and could do with a similar upgrade. Decent size room and enormous comfy bed, the balcony in the sea view room had a fantastic view over the coast. There’s a nice pool in a lawned area and was always easy to get a lounger. The hotel is a decent 10-15 minute walk into town which could get a little tiring but is much closer to the marina and there is nothing of similar quality better located. Check in and out was a bit of a mission. I’ve got no idea what they were typing but it was several hundred words on both occasions and had us standing there for a good 20 minutes. Luckily the computer didn’t say no.....having said that the receptionists were lovely.…
It's been a while since I last stayed at the Melia Sitges and overall most things are still the same, mostly good. Checking in was quick as it was a quite time of the day and it took a little longer owing to the temperature checks and extra forms to be signed, all while wearing your face mask. Room was on the third floor with a partial ocean view and a balcony , beds were clean and comfortable. There is no soft furnishings anywhere and all brochures , pens and notepads have been removed due to the covid-19 cleaning regime. Lots of wardrobe space and the room looks bigger as it is so empty. The bathroom was fine, just a little worn around the edges ( chipped basin) The shower was easy to use and large cartons of shower gel , shampoo & conditioner in the cubicle. The AC was really good and worked very well which was needed as it was 30+ outside , the free to use wi-fi was ok, it dropped a few times and one morning it was down for a while but not a real issue. The sound proofing was superb, once the balcony door was closed you could not hear any passing trains or street noise! Perfect for a quiet nice's sleep. Breakfast was different as you would expect in this times. On entering you are given a tray and some cutlery and shown to a table. There is a one way system although a lot of people seemed to ignore it. Everything is behind clear screens and passed over to you, there is no help yourself except for the cold items , juices, coffee and yogurts/ fruit. It worked well but just took a little longer , tables were wiped and sanitized after use which was good to see. Service was hit and miss, reception was sometimes terribly understaffed and you could have a long wait if there is people checking in as there was no reception desk to deal with simple enquires. The business center was closed due to covid so no printing facilities were available. The pool are was well managed and the lifeguard did a super job managing the towels and moving around the loungers so they were socially distant which was a little hard as there was a lot of families. The town is about 10/15 walk away down hill and around 10 euro back at night in a taxi . There is Carrefour express market on the other side of the roundabout about 5 mins away for water, sodas and chips if you need anything like that. The Melia Sitges is a dependable and reliable chain hotel in a good location overlooking the sea, however it might not suit if you prefer to be in nearer to the bars and restaurants of the town center.…
We booked a three night trip to this hotel based on the positive reviews and previous good experiences at Meliá hotels. We decided to treat ourselves and book a ‘Premier Sea View’ room. We expected to be facing the sea. We were on the 5th floor at the back of the hotel close to the railway track and busy road-it was very noisy. We had a city view but I was surprised this was described as a sea view room. I am also not sure what made it premier-there was nothing special or additional in it. The minibar was empty due to CV19 but there was 2 cartons of water. We presumed they were a complimentary addition to our room but no-on checking out we were faced with a 2.70 euros charge for each! Absolute rip off! The room was well furnished and the bathroom was nice. We had to call for our patios doors to be fixed as they wouldn’t close-this was dealt with quickly. The patio furniture was white plastic-surprised for a upgraded room. Breakfast was average. The food was ok but the drinks were poor. The coffee from the machine was awful! The fresh orange juice tasted fizzy and unpleasant. Some of the the cups and saucers had clearly been in the dishwasher but still had dirty marks on them-not great considering the pandemic. Spanish hotels usually do breakfast very well-this was poor in comparison. I asked for a coffee machine for the room; this was delivered but without any cups! The service everywhere was very slow and the staff were not friendly or particularly helpful. I queued for 25 minutes to check out. There was one man on reception and a huge queue. Other staff walked past and went into an office and just ignored the queues. The most effective member of staff was the pool assistant. The photographs of the hotel make it look grand and luxurious. In reality, it’s very bland and corporate. The pool area is smaller than it looks on the photographs and the large empty lobby adds to the lack of atmosphere. The hotel is close to the port but a 20 minute walk into town. There are no shops or supermarkets nearby so you are stuck with the over priced water in the minibar I’m afraid. We will return to the town but not this hotel. I am staying at the Meliá Sol House on the Costa Del Sol in October-let’s hope it’s better! We enjoyed our stay in Sitges but did not enjoy this hotel experience at all!…
