We arrived at the hotel, and were initially very happy with our selection, the reception staff were lovely and even offered a glass of champagne to celebrate our arrival. This was our last stop in a trip across Spain visiting 4 different cities in 9 days. We choose this hotel specifically as it had a pool where we could relax and it was also away from the main La Rambla area and therefore a little more tranquil, or so we thought! Whilst we were waiting in reception a group of young men passed through, clearly very drunk and behaving like football hooligans! This was our first indication that despite the impressive look of the place we may have made the wrong choice. We were given a room on the 5th floor, we arrived at the room and started to unpack. Within a few minutes another group of young men were running up and down the hall outside our room yelling and shouting, again very clearly drunk. Keep in mind this was early afternoon. It transpired these young men were occupants of the next two rooms, we immediately packed our cases and went to reception to ask to be assigned another room. We moved to the 3rd floor. The room looked good, and the shower was amazing, the bed was also very large and comfortable. We took some time to acquaint ourselves with our location in the city and later returned to the room. We were unlucky enough to share the lift with a group of ‘young ladies’ (I will use the term loosely) who treated us to listening to their conversation which was not only disgusting and inappropriate in the company of strangers, but contained some of the foulest language that English has to offer! At was around 1800hrs after freshening up in the room, I decided to take advantage of the afternoon sun and went up to the sky bar and pool. The pool was very small and much smaller than it appears in the pictures, it was jammed packed with what I can only describe as the rejects of ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ cast. They had completely commandeered the pool area, but in addition had placed all of their towels and T Shirts across all the chairs around the various tables in the bar area so as to claim the tables for themselves. The remaining tables were all reserved! I returned to the room and we left for a nearby bar to enjoy the late afternoon instead. We passed a reasonable night and slept well, then went on to enjoy the tourist attractions the next morning. On our return to the hotel, the hotel had been taken over by a film crew and a DJ party in the Sky Lounge. The music was hammering down into the reception area and into all of the rooms and gave the hotel the feel of a nightclub, not the experience we had been expecting. This continued into the night (although the volume of the music thankfully did reduce), We passed a very restless second night with people yelling and banging into and out of the adjacent rooms into the early hour’s, presumable attendees of the DJ party on the roof. The limited taxi parking area in front of the hotel was blocked off for the film crew, so before going to bed that night we had inquired about a taxi the next day as we were departing relatively early. We were told that usually taxis would be available outside the door, but because of the area being blocked by the film crew we were advised to come to reception an hour in advance of our required depart time and they would ‘try’ and get us a taxi. The morning of departure we asked again about a taxi and this time we were advised to allow 30 minutes for a taxi to arrive. When we came down with our cases were now told to walk a couple blocks and try and find a taxi rank! The street outside the hotel was absolute chaos! It was full of camper vans and film crew vans! We were lucky that we were able to hail a taxi, although we did need to literally take our lives into our hands to do this. As a seasoned traveler this is possible one of the worst hotel experiences I have had. During this trip we had visited Madrid, Toledo and Zaragoza and had been so happy with the accommodations throughout, this was then unfortunately let down by our stay at Negresco Hotel Barcelona. I am totally disappointed with the whole experience in Negresco Hotel Barcelona. I have no issue with people enjoying themselves, but this was sold as a relaxed comfortable hotel, not an 18 to 30s party experience! The hotel should also have informed us when booking that an event was taking place that would cause considerable disruption. The failure of the reception staff to help us find a taxi is also unforgivable. If I could leave zero stars I would!…
We paid for a city view room as it looked a bit bigger than the standard. But it was tight. The suitcases had to be “stored” on the floor, blocking the narrow passage to the bathroom and door. The staff were nice, from concierge to breakfast. The breakfast itself was average. I’d save the money and eat out next time. The roof top bar is impressive, but hope to sit away from the music blaring from the speakers!
I stayed at the hotel in April with my friends. We had a triple room. The room was spacious and had a very nice view. The location was perfect and everything was close by. In terms of cleanliness it was zero. We asked for the room to be cleaned every day and it is assumed that they come in to change the sheets and towels etc. During the three nights stay, the sheets were not changed and the beds were partially arranged. There was dust and hair everywhere on the floor. They were also not even regular with towels. The people at the reception were super clumsy. They spoke good English but did not help, especially with taxis. At check in we went down several times because the card did not open the room. If I were to travel to Barcelona again I would not visit it again as a hotel.
Currently staying at the hotel at the moment. Arrived yesterday to be told the pool was closed but will definitely be open today. Today it’s closed for maintenance again. We booked this hotel specifically for the pool so obviously wasn’t happy. Went to speak to the manager who was very rude and said there is nothing he can do other than refund us for the remaining 2 nights and we go elsewhere. The hotel itself is lovely and the bar man on the terrace is so friendly and helpful but it’s just a shame it’s run by managers who simply don’t care and can’t understand that their rooftop pool is one of the main attractions to the hotel, wouldn’t recommend for this reason, don’t be surprised if the pool is closed when you arrive
Fantastic hotel! A few minutes walk from the Aerobus drop off point in Placa Catalunya, ideally located for exploring the city. We arrived at midday and were able to check in straight away and recieved a glass of champagne on arrival which was a nice touch. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, the rooftop bar and pool is a must, and the shower in the room is without doubt the best shower we have EVER experienced, honestly it was so good! Highly recommend!
Stayed here in April 2022. Very helpful and polite reception staff, who spoke excellent English. Quick check-in and check-out with no issues. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. A nice touch that the minibar was stocked up with 2 bottles of fresh water every day. The rooftop bar has excellent views of Barcelona with the Sagrada in the distance - prices reasonable. Excellent waterfall shower in the room. The one major downside we found with this hotel was the quality of sleep we had. You can hear almost everything from surrounding rooms (talking, people using the bathroom, etc.) - but even worse were the drainage pipes when people flushed the toilet or used the sink. We would have an almighty thud that would almost literally shake the wall, every 5 or 10 minutes during the day and regularly throughout the night. It would wake us up every hour without fail unfortunately! I don’t expect silence in a hotel as central as this obviously, but I felt that the pipes made an unacceptable amount of noise to be honest. The cleaners were fantastic - however they would start cleaning rooms early in the morning with the glass water bottles for the minibars rattling around up and down the corridor. Not something I would normally complain about but after the drainage pipes keeping us awake all night it did annoy us more than it probably should have! Such a shame as if the sleep quality was better, I would say that the hotel is almost perfect for a central place to stay. I would still recommend it to a friend, however be prepared not to have the best night’s sleep - hence the 4 out of 5 stars.…
Stayed for 3 nights and had a lovely time. We did have a problem with access to our room and the lovely Selena and Ariadna where very helpful and treated us to a lovely treat. The roof top bar is a must.
Awful people working here, DON'T EVER GO HERE IN YOUR LIFE!! Of 150 hotels this is the one i hated the most i got kicked out on the street for no reason don't ever go here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they don't care if you live or die i swear on my life they don't care for anything else except your money
Very modern, great location. Breakfast was fantastic, value for money is a 10 out of 10! I’d highly recommend this hotel for a short city break or a long week. Staff are very polite, helpful and accommodating. The pool on the roof finished it off. Outstanding
We stayed for three nights and really enjoyed the hotel. It's so central. Room was spacious and spotless. It was warm and comfortable. Shower was amazing. As we were celebrating a double birthday we got a fantastic gift left in our room. It would be lovely to be able to open window in room. But otherwise it was a lovely stay.
