A lovely little place to stay right between El Born and The Gothic Quarter. The room was slightly on the small side but it was fine considering how lovely it felt with the balcony and patterned tiles. We loved sitting on the balcony watching the city below and being within walking distance to many places to see and places to eat in Barca. You're also close to a metro too and it's easy to get to and from the airport from Plaza Catalunya from here too. There is also a mini fridge in the room which is great.

The selling point of this place is mainly the great location. It s close to a lot of things. Unfortunately, it was a holiday when we were there so a lot of businesses were closed. The hotel is actually a part of an old building with some residential units. It did not look like a typical hotel with a large sign upfront or a lobby/front desk. It looked like a regular residential bldg. I had to call the hotel and the lady gave me instructions on how to get in by keying a code on the pad. There was a tiny elevator (typical of Europe) and a small room with a small counter. (Check-in area). The room was a bit small (but then, typical of Europe) it was nice because it was quaint, had a nice patio but didn’t have the coziness of the hotels in the US. Anyway the lady at the desk was really nice. Her name is Ynessa. Thanks Ynessa, overall it was still a pleasant experience! (We were there last summer)

As you say, our guesthouse is located in a building that's declared historic, and because of that we have many advantages and also disadvantages, like the reception not being on the ground floor. We stayed four nights at Som Nit Triomph and had a great stay there. The hotel is a perfect start for your trips into Barcelona. Besides that the crew is more than happy to answer all your questions and provide things you might need such as waterbouler, ironmachine etc. Rooms are big enough, clean and shower/toiletroom is perfect.
Will definetely book again next year!!

My husband and I booked this idyllic b&b in heart of Barcelona which also offered a room with a balcony. On arrival we were given room 103 and to our dismay was a room with a frosted glass door leading to a prison like terrace as per photos, we complained immediately at reception showing what we booked with Airbnb (nothing in our booking advised a terrace instead of balcony). The lady at reception showed us the spreadsheet type info on the computer showing us how busy they were and were unable to move us. We were asked to come back the following day and enquire again however there would be no guarantees we could be moved but possibly for the one evening only not the two we had left. We didn’t go back the following day to check due to getting back late from F1 testing and by this time gave it up as a bad job. The room without the view was clean, we did get extras one day with a cleaning wet white cloth left on one of the shelves. There was also quite a bit of noise in early hours on two nights, the b&b must have received complaints as notices were on main doors to each floor on the day of departure advising to keep noise down as people sleeping. In general if you are after a city location with no view this is perfect, for us it was always about the balcony that we booked and no mention in any of our booking confirmation this could or would been changed.
I have checked airbnb today 23/2 for this b&b and tested a new booking again nothing comes up advising we may get a terrace not balcony, which is misleading to anyone wanting to book this place, our advice is maybe message the place first.

We regret that the room size did not fit your standards. We appreciate your sincerity and we deeply apologize for any inconvenience you had during your stay. But all the information regarding the room is published on the web page, for all to see, before reserving, such as room size, equipment, amenities, price, etc. As you can see from the photos, each room is different from the other (one room has the bathroom on the left, another has it on the right, another has double bed, another has twin bed, etc...) and at the same time they’re the same, since they’re from the same category, all room have the same facilities, size, equipment, services, conditions, amenities, etc. Since we are a small guesthouse and we don't have many rooms, we have all the photos of all our rooms, posted online. We can assure you that the rooms are like in the photos, although some people think that the size would be bigger. As you know, a phone camera’s lens it's not the same as the eye, so the depth perspective in a photo is different than in reality (the same happens with mirrors, objects are closer than they appear) but that's why we inform about the rooms size in the description (12 m²), all the information regarding the room is published, for all to see, before reserving, so they can get a good idea of what they are reserving. We are not misleading anyone... That's why in the description it is mentioned that: the rooms have 1 double bed or 2 single beds, subject to availability. The rooms have a balcony or terrace, subject to availability. Room size 12 m². It seems you didn't even saw the information either, not even the second time you looked, you just had to click the more information area... Sadly, we are not responsible for Airbnb's web page design or the way they publish the information... Photos from Airbnb number 4 is the bathroom from room 103 and photo number 12 is from the room 103, where it can be seen the terrace. The room was in perfect conditions, you weren't given an inferior product or a product in bad shape, everything in the room was working properly. At your arrival, the receptionist explained that we were fully booked and you were the last one to arrive, and we had no other rooms left, for the first night. But you were offered to change rooms the next day, to one with balcony for the rest of the stay, but you have never came to the reception to make the change. If you just had come before leaving you could had a different room, but you decided on your own that you wouldn't be given a different room, which was totally the opposite... The room change was prepared, you only had to come and bring the luggage and we should have changed you the room, like we always do when our guests ask for a room change... Again, we deeply apologize for any inconvenience you had and the fact that you had this feeling.

This hotel does not hold luggage outside of check in/out. I have stayed in 6 hotels in Barcelona so far and others on different travels and a baggage hold is something I have come to assume is standard. It doesn't mention on the booking website that luggage storage is not available. The hotel website says free luggage storage is available. Then, in the fine print of the booking email they say they do not have this service. We used a nearby "locker" service which was the back room of a newsagent. It was fine but another deadline to get back for before the transfer to the airport. I could've booked a hotel I had stayed at previously for the same price and been happier but decided to stay here to be in a different location. The reason the hotel gave as to why there was no luggage storage was that it is a boutique hotel without the space. I don't accept that as good enough since one of the Barcelona hotels I've stayed in previously was clearer about being "boutique" and still ensured they had luggage storage. The photos of the rooms look spacious but I had to climb over my boyfriend to get in/out of bed because it was pushed against the wall. The room was modern and clean with a nice sized en-suite that had a really good shower and decent water pressure. The location was central and the staff spoke English well and one was very polite and professional, but sadly I can't say I will ever stay here again because of the luggage.

4th floor Apartment modified to 5 or 6 bedrooms the size of a shoe box. Full size bed stuck in one corner, bathroom almost bigger than the bedroom ( handicap bathroom ) which is strange since wheelchairs would not fit in the elevator. Location is great which is about all.

Some people find it ok, other people so-so, and for others it's small, but that's why the information is published so that the client can see and choose before reserving. We recommend you that next time read the info/conditions/services offered before making a reservation or contact the place, so that you can enjoy everything you desire. Also, regarding your comment , 1) not all handicapped people are in a wheelchair, and 2) a regular wheelchair does fit in the elevator :)

We can’t recommend. Som Nit Triomf Hotel created problems. In our week stay in Barcelona, we returned to hotel each night worried. We wondered if problems with our hotel room and late night noise were going to keep us from a good night’s sleep. They did.
Hotel switched our room. We arrived midday. Hotel manager confirmed our fourth floor room with two twins as we had reserved. When we returned to hotel that evening after full day sightseeing, hotel had switched us to a lesser room. Manager admitted it was their mistake. I requested offsite owner/manager call me next day; manager said he would call. Owner/manager never called us.
Hotel didn’t care about guests good night’s sleep. Rooms on fourth floor have side by side balconies. People in next room talked loudly on their balcony at 1:30am. At 1:30am I went to front desk to resolve. Night manager called the room. Loud balcony talking continued. At 2am. I had to again return to front desk night manager to resolve. I asked night manager about hotel policy of quiet time. He said 12 midnight was quiet time. I asked why I needed to get out of bed at 1:30 and then 2pm to ask for quiet to sleep. He did not provide an answer.
Nice location. Yet guest satisfaction was not made important at Som Nit Triomf.

Everything was as very well arranged. The room was clean, the location perfect and the room even had a terras. I needed to take virtual classes for my studie and the WiFi was great and stable. Everyday the room was cleaned. It houses in a beautiful classical building.

Most of the guests do not even notice it, much less appreciate the entrance, which has been preserved intact since the 1900s, the doorway is in an almost rococo neo-baroque, the marble stairs and the spitted wooden ceiling in an Art Nouveau style. Indeed, the opaque glass bathroom doors do not give much sense of intimacy, but they can be seen in the photos that are published on the websites of all the agencies. When a person makes a reservation, before they must look at all photos and read all the information about the room / place thay’re about to reserve.
