Great location and friendly ladies in reception. As for my experience with the business owners, I did not find them very honest! They would tell you one price to begin with but in the end they would charge you a different price for each night ! I was charged like this €25,70, €27.70, €29.70, €37.70 their explanation ; They would demand payment with a menacing insistence way before the end of your stay They would put boys in a girls' dorm! They would cook food in the night ! And they had an explanation for everything and wanted you to believe them at face value.
I had an enjoyable stay in ACYH during April. The rooms were clean and staff were friendly. Even when I had a bit of a crisis (missing my flight), the hostel staff managed to help me out with advising me on what to do. Much love to the team, especially Barbara, who made me feel so at home and helped ease me into Barcelona life!
There is a very small social area and TV only plays songs all day long, my room had glass instead of walls so we could hear every noise and the light in the morning wakes everyone. Nice staff, very well located, clean toilets, I just dont like lockers outside the dorms.
I spent a week here in June as a solo traveller while seeing Barcelona for the first time. I’ve been travelling for >6 months now so have seen my fair share of hostels! This is situated in a lovely building in the perfect location but that’s about where the good points end. The hostel was very full and it was almost exclusively Eastern European men wandering around topless and shouting to each other loudly. As the only female in my 8 bed dorm I felt pretty uncomfortable especially as they were drinking a lot in the room until late at night. I asked to move rooms and was told I was the only woman in the whole hostel. This certainly didn’t make me feel any better! After two days when a few other women did arrive they were spread around the hostel and I spent at least one more night as the only female in the room (I really think from a safety perspective hostels should try not to do this if possible). The kitchen is fine but very small. Free tea, coffee and biscuits. Showers are push button ones and one of them was only on a 3 second timer making hair washing a real challenge!! Overall I felt very uncomfortable in the common areas and in my dorm and felt the staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. I would not recommend staying here. …
Excellent! The hostel is calm and very well located in a good area, near Plaça de Catalunya and everything you would need! The staff is very nice, smiley and will answer to all your questions! I highly recommande!
This was my first hostel experience and it was amazing ,great hospitality and truly clean and friendly place. You have free wifi, good food and secure space. Simply best location, you are closer to all key spots in the city.
I stayed at ACYH for about a week, and it was in the best location. Few minutes walk to Pl. Catalunya, all the R1, R3, R4, L1 metro lines etc...Las Ramblas, etc... Prime location. Anytime I wanted to go out and do something, I just walked to Pl. Catalunya and took the bus/metro! Friendly staff who are super helpful giving you travel tips. They can also offer to help you book tickets for certain things (museums and transportation etc...), and if you happen to go to Madrid like I did, they'll even tell you how to get there. ACYH isn't some party hostel, which was perfect for me. I can party outside, so coming back to a quiet place was essential for me. The people staying here were super nice and quiet as well but I made friends with some folks that I could go explore with, too. Amenities: 2 desktop computers with internet access. They have a cabinet full of stuff you can purchase, like toothpaste, padlocks etc... Free snacks and tea, but don't count on using this as sustenance :) Refrigerator to store your stuff. Laundry machines (and the staff can even help you do the laundry, for a fee). The staff provide you with a ACYH card for which, upon showing to specific restaurants, you can get a 10% discount! They have lockers where you can put your stuff (outside of the rooms in a hallway). They'll provide you a key and that's your ID basically for when you return to the hostel, unless of course they recognize you :) Rooms: I was in room 2, with 8 bunk beds. They provide sheets and pillow, and a small cubby where you can place your stuff. There are outlets on top of the cubby, so if you're charging your device, you'll just have to leave it there. There's also a small fan, but it didn't do much. I stayed here in October, and one night it got pretty warm so I didn't use my sheets at all. Facilities: Returning to the hostel - so they don't give you a key or anything to access the building. You just have to press the green buttons and wait for them to buzz you in. I never had a problem, and they're quick to buzz you in! The showers are clean but aren't super fancy, and you just have to deal with it. Personally it didn't bother me, but I can see others who are more "high-maintenance" wouldn't prefer it. The water goes off after about 20-30 seconds to conserve water, so just push the button in again every now and again. Common room has nice seating area. Kitchen has everything you need, pots, pans, hot water boiler, sink etc... Summary - Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff. Best location ever for a great price. Facilities are clean. I would definitely stay here again when I come back to Barcelona!!…
I really liked this hostel. The bathroom was clean and the fans and air conditioning helped with the heat. Plus the people are very friendly and knowledgeable about what sights to see and how to book things. It was worth the extra spending money.
ACYH is located right in the center of the city. It's about a ten minute walk from La Ramblas, and a five minute walk from Placa Catalunya. This makes most of the important museums and monuments in Barcelona super accessible. The place is quiet, clean, and well-run. There's a kitchen with basic cooking equipment, and a refrigerator for food. Beds and bathrooms are cleaned frequently. There's fast WiFi and public computers. The staff knows the city like the back of their hands and always have suggestions for places to visit and events to attend. They pointed me to some excellent Catalonian restaurants that were off the beaten track, and helped me find my way around the city. I spent about two weeks at ACYH in Barcelona and loved every bit of it. Highly recommended!
