At first, it was kind of creepy because of the little dolls, but I actually loved the place! It gives a very Spanish feel and it's perfect if you want something different from a typical hotel. The lady at the reception, however, could not speak English, but was still very accommodating and helpful. She would phone the owner (I assume),... More

I stayed at Hostal L'Antic Espai as part of a European solotrip. The price for the location was unbeatable. I'm not sure what exactly was happening that particular weekend - maybe it was the Barcelona v Madrid soccer game - but the prices for other hotels near Barcelona's city center were hundreds of euros per night. L'Antic Espai isn't quite... More

Very centrally located this special gem is the perfect option when your tired of corporate hotels. Less than five minutes walk from Placa de Catalunya and the Ramblas, and two blocks away from Passeig de Gracia, this hostal with personality has a great location. The staff are very friendly and helpful and I surely recommend this for travelers in search... More

We loved it.can't fault anything about it. Conveniently located , and we rented bikes to reach the beach via bike paths. The owners were relaxed friendly and accommodating.I particular loved the colourful unique handmade and hand collected items all over making the place homey arty boutique y. It reminded me of the importance of beauty and of quality over quantity... More

This great hostel is situated right at the centre of all actions. 10 minutes to La Rambla de Catalunya, 5 minutes to the metro, all shopping and bars are just around the corner. Very clean and the staff were just great. I should mention that the owner is an antique collector and the place is chocas with antique furniture and... More

Trip didn't start well as we had to hurry to arrive to avoid the late-arrival charge, which we failed to do. However, that was not the hostal's fault, and their policy is clearly stated, and 20 euros between two isn't so bad, even though it was only a 2-night stay. The room was really nice. Clean, spacious, rather elegant, with... More

Overall, I'd recommend this to any budget traveler except those with physical disabilities (a lot of somewhat narrow stairs, no elevator) or who want a modern style facility. If I were going again, I'd pick the same place. For most travelers, the positives will far, far outweigh the negatives. Location: Excellent, walking distance to most main attractions, very near Metro... More

I chose this hotel based on the reviews on this site and I'm glad I did it. It's a small hotel with great rooms, great service and great people. It's near Plaça de Catalunya and some of the main attractions of the city. I would definitely come back to this charming hotel.

I stayed here for 2 nights, 11/13-11/14 2015 prior to embarking on my cruise. It was my first trip to Barcelona and I went alone. Im a single, 43 y/o woman. I arrived from the airport, took the Aerobus to the final stop in city centre for about 6 euro, walked less than ten minutes, and arrived. I never felt... More

Staying in Eixample

Neighborhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognizable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognized architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
