This hotel is right off the main drag in Barcelona, just a few minutes from a metro station, so getting around is quite easy. Apotheke and several bakeries/convenience stores in the immediate vicinity as well. Front desk was friendly and very accommodating - the pillows were essentially flat so we asked for two more. Everything was very clean, the rooms... More

It's not a high-end luxury hotel, and a saying goes like "you get what you pay for". However, in this case, I feel like I got more than I paid for All the basics were covered. Easy access to the rest of Barcelona, clean rooms, good service, and relatively quiet (considering where it is placed, and I stayed there during... More

My wife and I came off a 14 day E Mediterranean cruise with Celebrity Cruises Equinox and chose this hotel from the ratings and location. The good and the bad and the ugly- Location is excellent, a few blocks from Las Ramblas and many restaurants, souvenir shops, butchers, Starbucks, Carrefour (large store where you can get almost anything and prices... We've been here at the end of February, it was really an amazing stay. The price was quite fair, 60 euros for night, for stay in a quiet hotel, very clean, near La Rambla and the Mercato de la Boquieria. The position is perfect, near the metro, near the sea, near La Rambla. The street where it is situated is... More

We had booked an apartment nearby, which turned out to have NO windows at all, we passed on it and went in search of something better. we found the Alba Hotel and decided to stay. The man on reception is a little unusual but is really pleasant and very helpful (I saw him give a lone lady traveller his metro... More

We were a little skeptical first day we arrived at the hotel, as it is located in a narrow side street. We got a small but perfectly OK room. Clean and nice. Some noise from the street outside at night, but with earplugs I could sleep. The few times we saw someone at the front desk, they were friendly and... More

This hotel has no soundproofing, so the noise from the street (mainly people fighting in the alley next to the hotel) kept us up at night and construction woke us up way too early. We had to leave early. There are better values available in Barcelona.

Although this hotel is conveniently located near the centre, it is in one of the seediest streets we found in Barcelona, and was extremely noisy all night long. Our rooms on the 4th floor (402 & 403) gave out onto an alleyway where junkies gathered every night and made an unbelievable amount of noise. Windows were not double-glazed, so it... More

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
