Spent a wonderful weekend in Barcelona at this amazing hotel. Courteous multi-lingual staff who understood good service, gorgeous rooms, excellent facilities and perfect location (for leisure use). We normally shy away from such stylish hotels as they tend to be more style than substance but this place passed the test. We had a room with a balcony at the back...

Dear Guest, It makes us very satisfied that you enjoyed both our facilities and service provided by our staff. As you mentioned yourself, due that we are located in the city center we are subject to some noise from the streets; however, all our rooms are soundproof and we have the advantage that we are close to many places of...

We were not happy with our stay in this hotel as there was jackhammers and severe noise from 7.30 in the morning each day. We were on a relaxing winter break. The hotel should have been closed for maintenance or our room should have been not directly over the repairs. The staff were not interested in our complaints.

Dear Guest, We are very sorry that your stay in our hotel was not as you had expected and that we gave you the impression that we did not care about your complaints. In fact, we are very surprise that you think that way since all comments from guests are welcome as a mean to keep improving and to try...

We selected this hotel to spend a weekend/2 nights in Barcelona, for a special family event. The selection, based on trip advisors advices, was cross-checked with some others guidebooks. Just by entering the hotel lobby, we dive in a great atmosphere; the restauration of this old "philippine tobacco headoffice" a couple of year ago is simply great : choice of the...

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your impressions of our hotel’s facilities, services and staff. Our hotel is located on the “Ramblas” and many of our guests request to have a room facing to this famous street. We apologize for assuming that you would as well like a room overlooking the “Ramblas”. Due that...

I had an absolutely wonderful time in the 1898 in Barcelona. I think it may be the best hotel I've ever stayed in. When we arrived our room was upgraded to a superior for free. The room was large and had a balcony overlooking La Rambla. The room was well kitted out with a wide range of toiletries, hot drinks,...

We have stayed in some great hotels around the world but I think the 1898 is now our favourite. It strikes a perfect balance between fine service and friendliness. The breakfast was one of the best ever with its selection of foods (lovely pastries) washed down with Bucks Fizz if you required. To top it all, you walk out of...

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel 1898 during the week prior to Christmas. Upon the advice of other Trip Advisor reviews, we stayed in 2 superior external rooms which were quite spacious & luxurious. The bathroom in the king size room was beautifully appointed but in the twin next door the tiles were a little dated. Location was perfect...

We stayed at this hotel at the end part of our 3 weeks trip of spain. We stayed here for 3 nights. We didnt originally intended to stay there, but it was their good service that made us chose the hotel for the last leg of our trip. The thing is, we were in London for a week before we...

My wife and I stayed at 1898 last July 2010.....we were recommended other hotels but booked 1898 after reading the review on TP. We had an "internal" room.....it was great !!...better than many "external" rooms we have stayed in. Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
