Unbelievable experience in the best possible way! From the moment we entered, we felt an aura of incredible history and rich culture: from the furniture to the small to the colors, it was beautiful. The rooms were beautiful with views and wonderfully furnished, so none of my family has any complaints about them. Everything in the hotel felt very high end and luxurious. With posh amenities like the mini bar with drinks and food throughout the rooms and hotel, to the numerous lounges and pools both indoor and outdoor that incorporate the nature, history, and qualities of Barcelona at its finest, the hotel truly felt like a resort. The Tea Time was just as superb as the people who served it. The staff was not also very amiable and accommodating, but each went above and beyond to ensure the quality of our stay. The breakfast should also be mentioned. If you are to believe that this is simply a continental breakfast, you would be mistaken, as it is a full on feast with incredible quantities of delicious food and lush furnishings around the room. The service here never quavered either: Vanessa, Tiontse, Ana, and Ewas were all incredible and so friendly. The location could not have been more central either! In the middle of La Rambla, a famous avenue in Barcelona, everything is within walking distance, including tours, shopping, culture, and history. Our stay at this wonderful hotel ended far too quickly, and before we knew it, we were gone from one of Barcelona’s finest offerings. TL; DR: If you are a US traveler to Barcelona, don’t hesitate to book this property. Excellent experience all around. You won’t be disappointed. Extended review: We came to Barcelona as a family (2 parents + 2 college age children) to catch a Med cruise. Spent 2 nights at this property ahead of boarding. As we check out this morning, we wish we’d had another day or 2 in Barcelona. This is a tremendous city. In the US, I’m a dedicated Marriott guest. Accordingly, I’d liken this property to a Renaissance or Edition Brand property in the US. There is a Le Méridien across the street. I’m very glad we selected this property. Was not as expensive, but had the same vibe and same amenities. We selected this hotel using the Michelin Guide app since we were going to be in Europe. It’s a great resource for hotels and restaurants in Europe. Reviews and descriptions on the app comported with our experience. Staff is excellent; great English (and they’re very glad to speak it with you). Extremely cordial. Ritz Carlton/JW Marriott level courtesy, attention to detail. Rooms are smaller than US hotel rooms, but we knew that going into the equation. Max number of guests are 2 in the Superior rooms. Hotel was great about putting our daughters in the room right next to us (they aren’t adjoining rooms though). Very comfortable queen size bed. Bathroom was very nice. Temperature was easy to control. And we could open a window in the bathroom, which was nice. Television only has 2 English channels (CNN International and Bloomberg, but you’re not in Barcelona to watch TV). WiFi was very reliable; you can watch US content on your phone or iPad. Getting taxis from the hotel is not difficult. Hotel is on a side street right off La Rambla. Taxis congregate near the hotel and staff is very good about communicating where you want to go to the drivers. La Rambla is a very active part of Barcelona from morning to night. Nevertheless, there was not a problem with noise. Breakfast in the first floor dining room is very European. Breads, meats, pastries. They will cook you eggs upon request. Didn’t see any bacon or sausage, but again, you’re in Barcelona not Baltimore. No early morning coffee in the hotel or in the rooms, but there is a Starbucks adjacent to the hotel that is open at 0700 through late night. Centerpiece of the property is the roof top bar. Fantastic views of La Rambla, Gothic Quarter, surrounding hills, etc. Very nice pool too. Large selection of great eats and beverages. Have a selection of spritzs. Highly suggest the Victoria. We had a wonderful stay at the 1898 hotel. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffets was lavish and delicious. The location could not have been better. We were right in the thick of things both historically and for shopping. All within walking distance. We stayed in one of the four suites with a rooftop garden and pool patio. It was well worth the extra expense. The room was beautiful and well appointed. Lovely amenities, comfy bed and am air conditioner that worked so well! The rooftop made for the perfect champagne happy hour and place to,relax between activities. We spent three nights here prior to getting on a cruise and will come back again!

Elevator is limited Check-in time was a little long. But the hotel location is perfect Besides, rooftop is amazing. Thanks to Yacer, he was very helpful, we enjoyed our time at the roof and he served well during dinner. He also gave us good recommendations for places to visit nearby.

Hotel 1898 is on La Rambla feet from the Gothic area. This location provided us with great local access to many places that we wanted to visit and was a 10 minute walk to the Metro. This elegant hotel is well staffed and everyone spoke English . The breakfast is world class. The standard room that we had was more than sufficient for a week stay, though we found the mechanics of the European shower a bit tricky to master. There are actually written directions to follow. We very much enjoyed the pool on the lower level at the Spa on a daily basis and the rooftop pool area which features plenty of lounging areas including covered cabanas, a bar and live music including an acoustical guitarist and singer who was quite talented. Overall, I would highly recommend Hotel 1898 when visiting Barcelona. It exceeded our expectations.…

Excellent hotel in a great location. Centrally located off of La Ramble yet you feel secluded. The rooms are big and very clean. The hotel has European charm with modern-day amenities. The staff was accommodating and informative in recommending restaurants and bars. Overall friendly atmosphere.

Great location right on La Rambla at very reasonable pricing. Great room and breakfast. Close to all attractions and metro. Rooms are quiet and well appointed. Many good restaurants within a 10 minute walk. Will definitely stay again
