I booked the Hotel Indigo back in January for a two night stay in September. It was a non refundable rate. Ahead of our stay, I wanted to check some info and only accidentally came across that the hotel was closed and would remain closed for our stay. The hotel had made no contact with me about its closure and in fact had sent me an automated email confirming our stay just days before. If I had not found out about the closure I would have turned up to the hotel with no where to stay. I requested a refund from the hotel on the basis IHG (the hotel’s parent group) had advised that all bookings were refundable given COVID regardless of whether they were booked as non-refundable. Also the hotel was closed and so unable to provide the stay as booked. However, the hotel advised that they were only going to offer me credit to use at the hotel for another booking. Spanish consumer law advises whilst a voucher can be offered, consumers are entitled to a refund where a service has not been provided. UK consumer law also expects UK consumers to receive a refund where a service has not been provided, even if the provider is based in another country. All this can be found online and I did send evidence to the hotel including links to specific web pages. However, the hotel just said they were keeping the money as credit. I’m appalled at the behaviour of the hotel and its approach to customers. No notification of its closure. No apology about its closure. Keeping customers’ monies even when they are entitled to a refund. I contacted IHG customer services who advised they would contact the hotel but never bothered to email me back. There have been so many great examples of how companies have behaved ethically and fair during the pandemic including those in the travel industry. I’ve had personal great experiences with Hilton, Tui and Easyjet. I will continue to book with these companies in the future. I will not, however, book with an IHG hotel ever again. They are misadvertising it’s refund policy and showing zero customer service. I would avoid the hotel at all costs given the way they have behaved. …
Visited this hotel for 5 nights, beautiful hotel. Love the decor throughout the hotel very modern and quirky. Immaculate in presentation and surroundings. Rooms very comfortable with double doors opening out to a Juliet balcony. Rooms very well furnished and bathroom beautiful and large. Breakfast service outstanding and food great. Staff very welcoming and helped us with transport links. Will return in the future.
When we arrived it was hard to tell there was a hotel behind the door but don’t be fooled, although it’s not a big hotel it has everything you need such as 2 pools, a bar, restaurant and lounge/ waiting area and a nice outdoor patio area in the courtyard. The check in staff are very friendly and helpful and if you have a IHG membership you will get a late checkout. The rooms are really spacious, modern and have everything you need including water and fruit juices in the fridge. The main reason I would recommend staying here though is the location, it’s in a nice area close to the up market shops and a short walk from the ramblas making this an affordable and convenient clean hotel to stay in for the perfect trip to Barcelona.
Hotel is well located, but staff are amazing. Front desk Maria, Stefania and Valerie are really polite and professionals. Bar area, Rodrigo makes you feel welcomed and comfortable. Hotel is in walking distance to Catalunya square and shopping streets. Breakfast could have special touches and add some change options from day to day. Definitely a great stay.
From check in and until check out all of the personel were really great. Really serviceminded. Nice touch of arts in the room, clean and a really comfortable beds! Breakfast was alright,could have more options though. Really great location, walking distance to La rambla, placa the catalalyna, arc the triomph and sagrada familia. If you prefer the bus or metro, they are close by. We really want to give CERLOS that works in the reception 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Serviceminded guy and made our check in the best. He listened to the request we had and tried his best to make us happy. He also let us check in earlier and we also got an uppgrade. Thank you once again! I would recommend this hotel if you want to live close to almost everything you would want to see :)
