Art City Hostel is located in the heart of Barcelona, just three blocks from Plaza Catalunya. We are In Rambla Catalunya, next to Passeig de Gracia -one of Barcelona's legendary streets-; right in a neighborhood that combines Gaudi's modernist buildings with world famous fashion boutiques. The place has big and bright rooms, all with natural light and an international friendly staff. During the day you can enjoy Barcelona`s main architectural attractions just by walking five minutes from the hostel; or you can get into the medieval Gothic Quarter...or even the awesome Sagrada Familia Church! At night, the hostel is a quiet place to sleep and recover. But of course if you have different plans our hostel is also very well connected: it is just 5 minutes away from the subway station Passeig de Gracia (L-3 and L-4). The metro will take you to the Olympic Port...where you will find the best clubs of Europe!.

Their web site says that it is possible to check in until 3 am, with an additional charge after midnight. But close check-ins at 10 pm. I tried ringing the bell at 11;50 pm, no response. I tried calling, got only voicemail. It would appear there is no staff on duty from 10 pm until morning. This to me is dangerous. What if there are a bunch of drunk loud kids staying there? What if someone gets ill in the middle of the night? What if a toilet is overflowing? How can any responsible owner run a lodging facility with no staff? And if there is staff, then why can't people check in as long as they are in accordance with the facility's website terms and conditions? Barcelona is a city that comes alive at night. 10 pm dinner reservations are normal. Yet this place things 10 pm is a fine time to literally close up shop and go home.

Room Tip: They are not staffed after 10 pm. A dangerous situation in my opinion.

I stayed here with 2 friends and our stay was great! The staff is amazing, the location is on La Rambla street and in close proximity to everything. So cheap and so good. One of the rare hostels where there is actually space in the bathroom to put your stuff while you shower! The hostel has more of a homey feel, sort of as if we came with couchsurfing and had very nice hosts. There is a kitchen available for all. A few negatives - some of the beds are dented so after my first night I had a terrible back pain in the morning but I switched sides the next day and it was fine. The hostel is child friendly, there was a group of kids that arrived after 11pm and were loud. We wanted to go to sleep after being out the whole day for 12h+ but couldn’t because of their screaming. They advertise doorms as 6 bed but they are actually 7 bed as the staff members stay in there too. Not too much of an issue though and would definitely stay here again!

I visited Art City hostel with my friend, we stayed in the private twin room with balcony. For a short stay this place was a good choice. If we had stayed longer it would have been nice to have the option of an en suite room. It's a hostel, not a B and B, so there are lots of young people staying here and the people who run it are chilled out. It was as clean as any other basic hostel I have previously stayed in. The only downside was that it was about a 45 minute walk to the beach from here, but again it was fine as we were only there for a short period. I would return to Art City hostel, however If I was to stay in Barcelona for longer, I would consider somewhere with an en-suite room and closer proximity to the beach.
