I've paid almost 70 euros for the room. It was like a five star hotel room. the gym is not a big deal. small room. though I could run once there also, I could get a better fare on Expedia than their own price for a night.

The hotel is superb. A 10 out of 10 stay. There is no fault. Firstly the hotel is so comfortable, quiet and classy. The customer service is excellent. The concierges Juan, Mark and Xavi do everything to make your stay as pleasant and happy an experience as possible. The rooms are spacious, warm and very relaxing. The bathroom large with a great bath and shower. Most have a living room and 2 large screen tv’s in the room. The beds are excellent and make your stay more relaxing. The whole hotel is very clean. The breakfast is delicious with a great choice of items in the buffet. The fried breakfast made to order was another highlight. The hotel offers room service at a very competitive price plus a dry cleaning service. There’s a gym and out door swimming pool with a terrace. March to October would be the recommended months to swim. The area around the hotel El Corts is as quiet and calm as the hotel. There are hundreds of restaurants and cafes in the area and many gourmet food shops. The district is very safe and not dangerous. It’s a shoppers heaven. Within a 5-7 minute walk is diagonal with its amazing choice of shops including the Lila shopping mall and the popular Spanish department store El Corte Ingles. A lot of the most popular place in Barcelona are within walking distance but for further out places taxis or metro is recommended. There are always taxis waiting outside the hotel and the nearest metro station Hospital Clinic is 10 minutes maximum away. It’s a 20 minute taxi ride to the airport. There’s is only happy things I can say about the Gran Derby. Staying there is a happy and pleasant experience in every way. Once you’ve stayed there you’ll be determined to come back soon! Highly recommended.

So many things to love about this hotel. 1. Rooms are beautiful, much better than a 4 star American hotel room. We stayed in a junior suite and loved it. 2. Bed is pretty comfortable, shower pressure is good. 4 pillows on the bed. Love that. 3. Location is decently convenient to all the things you want to do in Barcelona if you're a tourist, without being in a super loud or scary area. We were never afraid walking to/from this hotel, even at night. It's about a 10-15 min walk to a good metro stop, and there is a cafe and a bar right around the corner. 4. Breakfast is very good. 5. Staff is AWESOME. We have literally stayed in a hotel that cost 10 TIMES as much as this one and the staff at that place wasn't as nice as the staff at Gran Derby. I have never had this much personal attention and great attitude from employees at any hotel. I made a note about a down/feather allergy and they took care of everything before we arrived. (I make this note every time I reserve a hotel room, but the staff usually just ignores it. Not so at Gran Derby.) Also, all staff members spoke fluent English. Everyone from housekeeping, breakfast staff, reception manager Juan and hotel manager Jose' were helpful, pleasant, accommodating and caring people. In fact, we loved everything about this hotel except the noise. The location itself isn't noisy, it's that the walls are thin. We could hear our neighbors sneeze, flush the toilet, and of course talk . . . sometimes into the wee hours. I didn't mention this to the staff when they inquired about our stay because they can't do anything about the building's construction. If you're a light sleeper, you might want to rethink booking here. Otherwise, this place is far and away better than the price suggests. We spent 5 nights here and other than the noise were extremely happy.
