Yes, you get what you pay for, and probably a little bit more. The rooms are small - in ours the bathroom was not separated from the bedroom other than by a two inch lip in the floor tiles. The telly had endless Spanish=speaking channels and no English speaking ones, but it was tremendously well located between La Rambla and the tapas eating district that we'd booked a tour on, so it was great for us, especially given that most hotels were full on the particular weekend we went. Our room was air-conidtioned, and after a day we found the thermostat to adjust the temp. Breakfast was included and doesn't have teh fresh fruit of the 4-star hotels but had one flavour of cereal, and one of toast, pastries, yoghurt and coffee machines. Sure the street outside smells, but you get that a lot in Barcelona from the drains, and it was annoying that house-keeping didn't have a separate key and had to use yours! but it was only one-star!! The front desk was manned 24x7, can't really ask for more.

we ordered 3 twin rooms with 2 beads etche for a single person we got a very narrow room with one bad. the width of the room was about the width of the bad. a sense of claustrophobia. only after insistence thay change into slightly spacious room- very basic the only thing good in this hotel is the location and attitude of the reception staff.

A noisy hotel with no acoustic absorbing material anywhere. Windows without screens prevent their use to cool room. Reasonably good location but 2 star quality. European breakfast comes with lots of coffee and nice warm croissants.

We stayed in one of the refurbished rooms. It was small and on the 6th floor, the lift goes to the 5th floor and then stairs to the 6th. The room standard itself was up to date and adequate. The A/C worked. The hotel also provided us with secure motor parking just round the corner at a reasonable pre negotiated price for 3 days. The receptionist ' Karen' , was extremely helpful with fine tuning our voyage to the circuit out the city at montmelo as there are loads of different ways to achieve this. (please ask me if you want info). It's worth getting one of the lockers in the hotel as it's cheaper than the safe. The area round the Ravel is a bit tacky but if you do your research there are actually loads of good restaurants to choose from. Watch out for pick pockets on the metro. The hotel is not cheap but considering the proximity to RAMBLAS and other areas of interest, it could be worse.

Just got back from a 2 night stay with a friend at this little gem, room was just perfect small but done the job, everything worked just fine my only down side to the room I would advise the hotel they need longer shower curtains as once u have a shower the whole bathroom floor is soaking wet! Breakfast is very very basic, for.me I would have like eggs! But fills a hole suits more the Mediterranean culture. Not sure about all the negative comments on hear this is a cheap 1* hotel in Barcelona it's a great stop close to all amenities if it's a bed and shower all u need I would highly recommend this place, cheap cheerful and friendly staff who went out there way to help with any questions we had
