What a beautiful hotel, everything about it was lovely from the minute your greeted, room etc until you check out. Made our holiday. Cannot wait to go back to this lovely hotel and wonderful city. So much to see and do. Highly recommend the junior suite. If I wanted to be picky, the only thing I'd say is - would... More

We stayed here on vacation. Upon arrival they accommodated us with a room upgrade so our 7 year old son could have a bed in the room with us. We had a balcony and great views of the city. The hotel is located right near the major food market which was amazing. We were walking distance from a market, coffee... More

We met our daughter and her family in Barcelona this past August. Our daughter made these reservations on a budget. We arrived a day early and checked into the hotel. Upon arrival as we made our way to our assigned room we where hit with the extremely narrow dark, hallways . Upon entering the room as we looked around we... More

Great location in the heart of Las Ramblas area. Staff was helpful and friendly. Spoke good English. Wi fi worked great in my room. Very clean and I slept well. Had a nice breakfast which was 12 Euros extra. Convenient lockers available for 2 Euros as I had to stow my luggage for a while before moving on.

Hotel Principal is centerally located near Ramblas street which is the happening place in Barcelona. The rooms are small and the hotel over priced due to its location. Good for only those who desperately wish to live near Ramblas. Otherwise there are a number of Hotels within 2 to 3 Km from Ramblas and much much cheaper. You could even... More

Unfortunately our experience staying here was worsened by a rude, abrupt gentleman working at reception when we arrived. Disembarking from a cruise, we were of course getting to the hotel quite early. Before we were halfway through our sentence explaining we would just like to leave our bags and check in later, we were cut off and told it was... More

300 yards from las ramblas puts hotelprinciple in a very good place, as its down a side street and quiet. Breakfast is good for a 3 star hotel in Spain.Room was clean and well serviced by staff. Thoroughly recommend Hotel Principal

Have just stayed at Hotel Principal with a group of ten friends visiting Barcelona for a long weekend. The hotel is within five minutes walk of Las Ramblas and fifteen minutes walk to the marina. Helpful staff, large clean room, great location. Only downside was the noise. Our room was at the front and near the stair well, lots of street noise and sound carried very clearly from guests using the stairs. Would stay here again.

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
