A pretty, vintage wooden elevator with a bench and a looking glass takes you in stately manner to the top floor of the beautiful and courtly eixample building where the Hostal Oliva has been located since it was founded, back in 1931.Renovations have been made carefully to enhance the facilities of our Hostal without losing its vintage atmosphere, that unique character that has made Hostal Oliva highly appreciated by our guests through the years. The Hostal Oliva is run by forthcoming, charming staff who take wonderful care of our guests with a personal feeling which you will find most attractive. Both our friendly ambience along with the overall atmosphere of intimacy and tranquility that you will find here, are willing to help making your visit to Barcelona a delightful and unforgettable experience. Its unsurpassable location on the most splendid of the Eixample avenues, the pricey Passeig de Gràcia, makes Hostal Oliva the best bet for those who are searching for a budget place to stay, but are also concerned about looks, safety, character and a central position.
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognizable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognized architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.

Hostal Oliva ranks extremely high for value lodging. It is the antithesis of a chain hotel: the owner is very personable and there are only a handful of rooms. I fell in love with the rustic elevator (supposedly the second one installed in Barcelona). My...More

We loved the Hostal Oliva. The location is fantastic--close to the metro and walking distance to many sites. This family run hotel was clean and well maintained. Thank you to our hosts for making us feel so welcome!

I have stayed there many times and for sure they do not have a safe box in the room. But then with the location being on the 4th floor with no guest having a key to the main door into the hostal - you have to ring the bell and they let you in (24 hr) -the only likely problem would be from other guests.
