Finishing up a fabulous cruise with a few days in Barcelona. We chose this hotel after a recommendation from a friend. The lobby and public areas were nice and modern. Our room wasn't ready due to our early arrival, but the front desk stored our luggage while we toured the city. Around noon we returned and were told that only...

I had read reviews before booking this hotel, and was somewhat concerned, but booked it anyway. I understood that I was not booking with Hyatt or Hilton, but expected that basic service would be in place. This was probably the worst lodging experience I have ever had. The room was very small with a view of other windows with clothes...

My group stayed 3 days at Confortel before a cruise on RCL. My party consisted of 5 - a family of 3 and myself, I am disabled and a friend. Confortel had an adaptive room for two that was excellent. Our rooms were an excellent price at 120 euros including breakfast. The breakfast alone is valued at 20 euros. Our...

We recently returned from traveling in Barcelona after a Met. Cruise with NCL. The Confortel was a great hotel with a boutique design that we enjoyed very much. Advantages/Disadvantages: - Rooms are good size with a view if you are on the 6th or 7th floor. - Rooms have modern decor, very clean, and large bathrooms - Internet is free...

Booked this hotel on last minute and was a little wary of the mixed reviews but we had a fantastic room and amazing view of the city. We arrived at about noon and rooms weren't ready so we left our case and wandered for a couple of hours. When we got back we were asked if we wanted smoking or...

When we arrived at this hotel we were told in a very rude manner that we were going to be taken to another hotel in a very poor location of Barcelona. When I refused this, saying it was uneceptable, after minutes we were given, a nice but very small room. Throughout our short stay this particular receptionist would not reply...

My mother and I stayed in this hotel recently. It was perfect for what we needed - somewhere central and reasonably upmarket without breaking the bank. We got more than expected for the price paid on 1800hotels - lovely breakfast, great room with two double beds, nice view from our balcony, central location that couldn't have had us better placed...

We have just returned from a weekend break at the hotel, the location was excellent and the view from the window was out of this world. Just outside the hotel door is a bus stop and taxi pick up point and the metro stop Jaume about a five minutes walk. The hotel has free internet access, the service that we...

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
