We choose this b &B because we had stayed there before and so enjoyed it. Especially the born area. We stayed in the same room, the shower had mold around it, the floor tiles were broken, it seemed very tired and dusty. Breakfast was just ok. Nothing special- no fresh pastries. We were so very disappointed. Daysi was friendly and... More

First off, this would be a five but that we were there in September in a heatwave and really felt the lack of AC. El Balcon del Born is definitely a five kind of place! All my correspondence with them before our trip was quick and helpful, arriving was coordinated well, and the place is both comfortable and adorable. The... More

This is a special hostel. We could not think of coming to Barcelona and not staying here. Barcelona is a city there are lots of things to visit and Balcon del Born is perfect located for it. The rooms are beautifully decorate and the staff are a delight. Thanks to Pablo and his staff..

First things first... there is No A/C here, and if you're traveling in the warm months of Spain, it can really make a difference. There is quite a bit of noise from below since there are 2 patio restaurants right outside the windows. You might consider asking for a room away, unless noise doesn't bother you at night! Very quaint... More

El Balcon del born is in a great location near the beach, the harbour, Las Ramblas, the cathedral,... The staff is very friendly and showed us in the map the best places to visit and good restaurants to eat. I shall recommend it to everybody.

El Balcon del Born is located in a great area of Barcelona. I didn't know what to expect, but the room is not newly renovated nor are the beds brand new. That being said, this is a great place to stay. The vibe and feel of where you are is amazing. You can hear people outside having drinks, talking, and... More

We overall enjoyed our stay at El Balcon del Born. We had a lot of trouble finding the place. We were not sent detailed instructions in advance on how to find it, and the name was not written anywhere on the outside of the building. Our US phones didn't work there - we only found the place after a couple... More

Fantastic hotel in the heart of Barcelona. It is small but very nice. The staff tried the best to make your staying comfortable. The breakfast , by the way, is delicious. No doubt I would repeat this place.

We spent five days in El Balcon del Born. The bedroom was large and comfortable. The breakfast was very complete: cereals, bread and butter, fruit, marmalade, cheese, ham, yoghurts. The staff speak very good English and they are really very helpful. I fully recommend it.

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
