Incredible! Absolutely incredible experience from the easy location to the proximity from all Sightseeing spots including the famous Gaudi highlights. Shopping on your doorstep and we even caught a film at the cinema across the street! Amazing value for money! Hotel services were impeccable- we will be returning - mum and I are Spanish natives living in London for over 30 years so staying at the hotel during our stay was a real luxury, the space is intimate yet inviting - breakfast was a dream, all the staff were attentive and helpful from extras on the menu to preparing us lunch boxes for our day trips! The beds were so comfortable, shower and sheets cleaned everyday. We arrived early and our room was made available as soon as possible. Our flight was later than check out yet reception offered to keep our luggage, offered a longer breakfast and gave us a few ideas to keep busy close to the hotel. Our stay was made extra special with the attention of Peter and Elias who made our trip the most memorable, an extra effort to make sure we were aware of all the hotel amenities including the free tea time which is literally Tapas and Prosecco on tap (suffice for a light dinner) before heading out to enjoy the Catalonian evening! Definitely returning A and N

My husband and I were scheduled to travel to Spain late September/early October but unfortunately due to Covid-19 are flight has already been cancelled. I preceded to cancel the hotel reservations that we had at all of our destinations. We received no obstacles until I tried to cancel Hotel Granvia Since I very stupidly booked a prepaid room they are sticking to their no refund policy. I tried to remind them we are not cancelling on a whim and if it wasn’t for this pandemic we would certainly be there. I was told that “thousands of people are traveling to Spain everyday” so they did not see my concern. After a few emails back and forth, I was offered a future credit which is basically worthless. If thousands of people are traveling to Spain they should have no problem rebooking the room. Their attitude is we have a policy and we are sticking to it no matter the circumstances. I realize they are a business that got hurt but if you are in the hospitality business you should try and be more hospitable. Instead I feel like they robbed me of over $1500 and we could use that money back. I am sure the manager will respond with a preworded standard reply. Please don’t bother

Dear Patricia A, We are sorry to read that you are not satisfied on how we are managing room cancellations in our Hotel. It hasn’t been easy dealing with all the room cancellations and we have tried to offer coherent alternative for our guests satisfaction, what we have mostly achieved without problems. First, we would like to clarify that we are not sticking in our non-refundable policy, as we are giving the option of keeping the credit for one year to rebook in the hotel, what’s not included in this kind of reservations. The situation is changing every day and your reservation is for October (total cost of 288€) we don’t know how the situation will be by the time of your reservation. Even so, we are offering you the option of keeping the credit to rebook. We also inform you that we read all our comments and we do not respond with a pre-worded standard reply. We like to give a clear and real answer to the guest that take their time to post their comments and to all the Trip Advisor community. Kind regards,

Stayed for a few days before a cruise out of Barcelona. Perfect location for exploring the sights of the city! Small, not crowded, historical palace with comfortable rooms and a great breakfast buffet! Our room was on the second floor front, overlooking the street - fantastic. Will plan on the Hotel Granvia as our #1 choice for future Barcelona stays! Thanks to all! (P.S. Found this property through Rick Steve's books. Good choice. In fact, while we were staying, a Rick Steve's tour group was also based in the hotel. Good taste by all!)

Hotel Granvia is situated in the middle of Barcelona, easily reached via public transport and walking distance from shops, restaurants and sightseeing spots. Our check in procedure was a bit of a letdown….. When we entered the hotel and lobby, there was a guest complaining about the air-conditioner in their room, and there was only one man behind the counter helping people. Consequently, we had to wait about 10min before we were helped. The man was friendly enough and took care of the necessary duties, but as he was finishing and explaining the room features and what was included in the price, we asked about breakfast and he said it was not included in the room rate. I told him that we did book a room with breakfast included and he said it was not showing in the system, and that we have to contact the online third party agent through which we made the reservation. Only when we showed him our confirmation e-mail and information, did he make an effort to look up for some more information, and actually did find it somewhere in a file that we are entitled to breakfast. He offered some excuse about the system not updating or something like that. So we made our way up to the room, there is only one small, old elevator which takes a really long time, so taking the stairs is actually an option to get upstairs and downstairs quicker. The hotel, lobby, stairs and dining room are all really elegantly and simply decorated ~ a nice and pleasant look and feel. The rooms are small. We took one of the cheaper rooms with an outward facing view….. Basically no view and a wall of another building a few meters away. All the expected facilities and amenities are in the rooms ~ toiletries, mini fridge, safety deposit box, coffee and tea. They provide free afternoon tea and snacks, but options and quantity is limited, so best to be there when it starts in order to enjoy this, too late and it might all be gone. The breakfast was a decent selection of hot and cold dishes, as well as a variety of drinks. There was one lady working the breakfast shift (unfortunately cannot remember her name) and she was a delight! She was always armed with a smile and ready for a quick chat and some suggestions and helped however she can. She is a star and definitely made our stay so much more pleasant. All in all a decent stay, affordable and the location is definitely a bonus and works in favor for this hotel.
