Spent two nights at Hotel Barcelona this past weekend. Amazing location, so close to Las Ramblas and right in the core of the Gothic Quarter, so if being central is important to you - then Hotel California is a great bet. The room (we stayed in 101 on the first floor) was great for our needs, with the addition of...

We wanted a hotel right in amongst the madness that is La Rambla at the weekend and this was perfect. The noise didn't bother us (not even the trumpeter at 6am), as there was sufficient soundproofing for us and the party atmosphere more than made up for it. Both guys at the front desk were friendly and welcoming. The room...

That's what it says on their website, and that's what you get at this great little budget hotel. On the advice of a family member who stayed there, we booked the hotel for a four night stay in Barcelona. It is a small, budget hotel in a terrific location. Our room was not luxurious, but it had everything we needed...

Located in a alleyway off Ferran the hotel is a 2 minute walk from la Rambla or Placa Reial. Gota vella old city is a 10 minute walk and there are hundreds of eateries catering for all tastes and pockets close by. The hotel is simple but comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful with a 24hr reception. a...

Excellent hotel, location was just off La Ramblas & central for all bars, restaurants & sight seeing. Checked in really quick, receptionists were really helpful & friendly. The rooms had every thing you need, towels changed & room cleaned daily. There was a bit of noise late at night, but you are in a city!!! Didn't effect us. Excellent value...

The Hotel California offers a good location at a good price. The rooms are a bit Spartan, but not overly so and have good storage. I can recommend it - with one major and two minor warnings. The major warning: it is on a narrow, noisy street. The windows are well soundproofed, but the hotel offers air conditioning only in...

I booked this following good reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not at all disappointed. The welcome was warm and friendly. I contacted the hotel about 6 weeks before arrival and asked for a twin room and was impressed that my request was remembered and acted on at check in. The room was very basic but really clean with...

Pleasant room on B&B basis, a little jaded but well situated just off La Ramblas and close to Placa Reial with access to a number of good restaurants. Friendly reception, very helpful. Barcelona has a number of wonderful places to visit and the hotel is well situated to allow access to a number of them and to use the excellent...

We stayed here for a long weekend in October / November and had a great time. The location is excellent in the gothic quarter and just seconds walk away from Las Ramblas. Staff were friendly and helpful, check-in quick and easy. The room was small but more than adequate, clean with all the facilities that we needed. Breakfast was not...

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
