I recently stayed at La Isla and was less than impressed by the place. It is in a good and convenient location within walking distance of the historic city centre, and close to a metro station. This is where the advantages end. Staff were never available, the information about reception hours posted around the property was conflicting and misleading. On...

On an unprecedently busy weekend (world mobile conference, grand prix testing) for February, we paid a little more than usual due to the lack of beds in the city but I would certainly revisit at regular prices. Two stops east of Catalunya on L1, bang outside the Arc d'Trionf, it is an excellent location away from the overpriced and overbusy...

Hostel is located near a subway station. Walking distance practically everywhere except for the park guell which is outside the city center. But beware the the signage of the hostel is really small so it is easy to miss. The hostel is okay, i mean the usual hostel clean and no frills. Some snacks are available in the kitchen together...

I had a brilliant 5 days in Barcelona travelling on my own for the first time. La Isla was an excellent choice and I would definitely stay there again. Gina the receptionist was exceptionally friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. I was lucky enough to be upgraded to a lovely double room which had everything I needed and a...

Whilst badged as a hostel, La Isla is more akin to a guesthouse although without serving breakfast. It is also very well located, being directly outside Arc de Triomf and close to the stop of the same name on Line 1 of the Metro. Staff at check-in and during the stay were very friendly. Room was clean and, whilst we...

Stayed here for 7 nights and as 7 nights in Barcelona hotels cost a lot we decided to book a hostel. This was a much cheaper option. It is extremely central, the staff are friendly are really helpful and speak good English. Our room was just what we needed with a balcony also! Very happy with our time here and...

My husband and I stayed at La Isla for 4 days. We were sceptical about booking a hostal however all other accommodation was sooooo expensive! We stayed in a double room with an en suite. Positives.... The hostal is in a great location approximately 15 minute walk from La Ramblas and 20 minute walk to the beach. Staff were friendly...

This was my 3rd or 4th visit (I go every years to the Spanish F1 GP). Again the rooms were clean, the staff friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Excellent location for my visit. A short walk to the Ramblas and it's nightlife. A short walk in the opposite direction to the bus station to get a coach to...

La Isla, you were great to us! Do not be thrown off by the word hostel! It is an amazingly clean, friendly and welcoming place to stay with great sized rooms, we stayed in room 5 which was lovely and spacious with a private bathroom, room service every day which makes your bed up for you etc. There is a...

Staying in Eixample

Neighborhood Profile
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognizable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognized architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
