El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.

The biggest advantage of this place is Location and then ...nothing. We were there 3 nights but the first one was horrible . After a flight we entered the premises and found a receptionist who wasn’t pleasant at all and knowing I didn’t speak Spanish , continued talking in Spanish. Then it turned out there was no hot water at all. I asked for heating to be turned on and he said ok but when , after few hours, another receptionist came said it wasn’t possible. We met 4 different male receptionists during the stay and all of them were rude. I met housekeeping ladies on the corridor and asked them to clean my room but when I got back in the evening nothing was done , no shower gel nor soap. I went to grab it from reception but the man didn’t look happy about moving from the reception desk and getting it form me. I felt I bothered him. I felt like in a poor hostel rather than a pension or a hotel. Paid €70 a night . It’s very loud at night as there are pubs downstairs. It’s ok for 1 night but not sure if for longer .

Our room was right next to reception so extremely loud and did not have a bathroom. It was clean-ish, sheets were stained. Staff didn't seem to really be bothered by too much so they come across as rude but I don't think that's their intention. The staff smoke in the reception area so it smells bad and drifts into the nearby rooms. The balcony was super cute. Location was fantastic and close to everything with some great restaurants and bars in the area. We didn't get a great deal like other reviews are saying, we actually paid quite a lot for our stay so definitely not value for money.

Room may have been small but we were only there for sleeping! Reception staff very friendly and location great near Las Ramblas and shops and cafes. Nearby bakery was perfect in morning g for coffee and brioche

Stayed here for one night, was an ideal location not on a main road, but right in the centre and well connected to everything! Perfect for the price (50 per night for 2 people) It is very basic, but I personally wouldn't travel to Barcelona to stay in a hotel room the whole time.. so in my case I couldn't have been happier! We had a balcony which is amazing watching the street life from above. Honestly couldn't say a bad word about this place, staff were very nice as well and held on to our bags for us after check out

Paid €234 a night just because it is MWC week. It is 3 times over its usual price. Extremely noisy at night especially dinnner time, which can last way past midnight. Can hear drunkards shouting continuously way pass 2am. The rooms are partition walls so you can hear what is going on outside the room. Bed is squeaky and bed linen looks unwashed. No toiletries provided. No TV. Heater not working and tile floor can get very cold in the morning.
