Travelers' Choice
There are certain pleasures that are only available to those that stay at the Hotel Colón. For example, waking up early in the morning, crossing over to the window, pulling aside the curtains, and seeing the image of the Barcelona Cathedral bathed in the sun’s first rays. It’s an image that will fill you with energy throughout the whole day! Many of our 129 rooms in the hotel offer this privilege, in addition to amenities such as air-conditioning, telephone, LCD television with international channels, high-speed Internet, safety deposit box, a well-stocked mini-bar, and the finishing touches of a 4 star hotel. If you are traveling for leisure, after a nice shower and a full breakfast, you’ll find it convenient to have the main tourist attractions within walking distance. If you are traveling for professional reasons, having two ample lounges at your disposal offers you infinite options for any event, convention, business meeting, or celebration. In both cases, it’s good to know that, for lunch or dinner, you can depend on the excellent service at the Cathedral 1951 restaurant. All of these reasons make a stay at the Hotel Colón unforgettable. What more can you ask of a hotel?

We recently stayed at this beautiful hotel in Barcelona. The location was absolutely spectacular right next to the Cathedral in the gothic quarter. Our room was lovely and a highlight for us was the wonderful roof top bar where we enjoyed drinks and Tapas on a few occasions. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and staff were very helpful. We would highly recommend Hotel Colon

The location of this hotel is amazing, right in the heart of the action. Plenty of restaurants right by the hotel with amazing food. The hotel had a good service. Our room was small but our friends was large, the hotel is clean and well renovated. The hallway smells but they said they are working on it

Great location ! Near Latin quarter, El Born etc. Very close to all the sites, shops and restaurant. The views of the cathedral are breathtaking . My husband and I stayed 5 nights at Hotel Colon. We had a lovely experience. The staff were very kind and professional. The location can be busy and noisy at times but it's part of the charm. When we closed the windows it is very quiet. The rooms are very clean and big. Only issue was the king sized bed. It's really two smaller bed pushed together. The breakfast is also very good.

Came with my girlfriend, and this hotel was supposed to be one of the highlights of our trip. Could not have been more wrong. It sounded like there was a kid bouncing a basketball on top of our room from 7 am until we checked out at noon. Staff was extremely abrasive and looked bothered by the guests mere presence. After coming back from dinner around 8 the doorman blocked us from coming in because he did not think that we were staying at the hotel, and tried to make us wait in line to access the roof. Eventually we were able to make our way in and go up and tried to enjoy the rooftop bar. This too was spoiled by rude staff. As it got closer to closing time the waiters were sure to let us know and rudely and repeatedly interrupted our conversation to countdown the minutes until they were closed. Before leaving, we wanted to take a picture but that too was ruined by extremely rude staff.

The location of the hotel is very good, but the noise is very loud. People are outside making noise until late at night. I also saw some tongue lashing and sighing from the staff towards Asians and blacks. Asians and blacks should look for another hotel for a better experience.

We went to the rooftop terrace for some drinks one day. We didn’t stay in hotel Colón so it was a long wait to get up to the terrace. While the view was lovely I wouldn’t go again. The drinks and food are definitely overpriced, and the quality doesn’t match the price. The waiters were attentive but not overly nice and we ended up leaving soon after arriving - as did many other guests. It was quite windy on the terrace too so you couldn’t really enjoy your food either way. Good to see but wouldn’t recommend.

For our last two day stay in Barcelona we chose this hotel. Honestly we really whish we would have taken our money to a different hotel. At first everything seemed normal, check in was quick… and that is all I can say good about this experience. First- we kindly asked for second blanket for sleeping since there were two of us (with my friend). Some time later they brought just a hairy wool blanket with no cover. For a 4* hotel with 250+ eur for a night is a cheap move. Second- when the bellboy/assistant Jordie brought that blanket to us he bulged into our room just to rudely say no airconditioning is allowed and turned down our termostad. This is unexcusable move since I was just coming out of the shower. Maybe I would have been naked or changing clothes…? This is not okei. Third- when the blanket arrived it was without cover, asked the reception for a cover sheet, again when the assistant Jordie came with the coverblanket he could not made it anymore obvious that he was bothered with that move and his eyes allmost rolled out from eyesockets. And might I say- we kept it very very proffesional and not once showed any dissatisfaction with this situation. Fourth- we let the hotel call for a taxi. When the taxy arrived the starting price was 5,59 and our trip to Sagrada Familia went something around 18eur. But when we came back, took taxi from the street, the price was something around 8-9eur (starting preice 2,95) The taxy company was the same. I think they (the hotel) should have mentioned that when they order the taxi it is more expencive. Fifth- many of the rooms on first floor are located just above breakfest hall so be ready to hear some extreme rumbling noises starting from 7Am. And since the rooms are without airconditioning they get hot and the air runs out. When you open the window the noise keeps you up as much as hot room. I know it’s located in the busy area and I don’t excpect total quietness but there was fine line between room too hot, all the downstair noise and when opening the window- the outside noise. Sixth- after check out we left our bags to luggage hold. That day again that little man Jordi was working. We were politely standing there, waiting for our turn… leting everybody else before us. We hold the baggage ticket in our hand, very obvious we were there to get our bags but Jordi just ignored us,walked past us many many times when finally went to the reception desk to chat with the workers there. Then we went to the desk to ask- are we gonna get our bags or have to wait any longer? So I’m telling you deffenetly will find better place to stay, where you won’t feel like a burden.

Wonderful hotel with a perfect location. The taxi can drop you off near the entrance. We arrived after an overnight flight and were greeted at the door with luggage assistance. The check in desk is small and the area gets crowded quickly. There is a small lift, and the staff will quickly assist with luggage and can store it after check out also. The breakfast room is relaxing and serves a large Buffett style meal which is also open for dinner. Lunch is served outside or on the roof terrace when possible. It is in the square across from the cathedral near the gothic quarter. I loved the shops, restaurants and narrow European pedestrian streets. Highly recommended and 15 minutes from the cruise terminal.

I would have awarded this hotel 5 stars if they hadn’t put us in the worst room in the hotel our first night. Fortunately they found us a lovely room for our next three nights, but it was annoying to have to unpack and then repack our clothes. Most of the front desk staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They made dinner reservations for us and always found restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The location could not have been more ideal. It’s right across the square from the Cathedral of Barcelona in the Gothic Quarter and has a rooftop bar that looks out on the square. La Rambla was just a couple of blocks away. The breakfast buffet was excellent. It included scrambled eggs, Spanish omelette, assorted meats, cheeses, smoked salmon, fresh fruit, yogurts and many breads and pastries. There was a self serve espresso machine, but I also ordered a cappuccino. In spite of a rocky start, I would highly recommend this hotel.

A nice room in a great location but…. The ceiling of our room started to leak. Unfortunately the hotel was full, so we stayed in the room the first night. The second night the leak was much worse and we were able to switch rooms at 11pm. The hotel gave us 4 chocolates for our trouble. It would have been nice to get a discount on the room with the dripping ceiling!
