My husband and i stayed here last september for three nights. I can't say enough nice things about this place. Located in my favorite part on the city, marcelo's feels like a complete hidden gem. Marcelo and his team are warm and welcoming, but never intrusive. Rooms are clean, and ful f character. (we loved room 4). Bathrooms are shared,...

My fiancé and I liked Casa de Marcelo so much we didn’t want to leave. In fact, we asked Marcelo if there were any rooms available for the next two nights but it was fully booked. He went out of his way and offered us another accommodation - for free! (I am sure this was a one-off but a very...

A little gem - Marcelo has put his whole heart into the restoration of this gorgeous place and it shows. Hugely personal touches make it feel like staying with a particularly stylish friend, who likes things comfortable. He and Olivier were really accommodating with respect to us having to leave early in the morning and needing an extra set of...

My sister and I stayed at Casa de Marcelo over Easter 2012 (April 5 - April 10) on recommendations from friends who had previously stayed there. It did not disappoint! It is so beautiful, we really felt at home. We stayed in the Balcony room with a private bathroom (I think there are only 2? Other rooms have shared bathrooms)....

Casa de Marcelo played a huge part in making our 6 days in Barcelona a very memorable experience for myself, my wife and 2.5 year old. Situated right in the heart of the Born district and close to the Barcelonetta beach, restaurants and tourist attractions, this B&B is a great base for exploring all that Barcelona has to offer (which...

Our four nights at Casa de Marcelo were truly wonderful. Marcelo is so friendly and helpful and a brilliant host. The location is absolutely perfect with everything in walking distance including beautiful shops and restaurants, the Picasso museum and the station. Our room was so beautiful and even though we shared the bathroom, it was no problem whatsoever. All the...

From the moment we walked into Casa de Marcelo we were greeted with a smile and nice cold drink and made to feel so very welcome. Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
