We got this pension in DK Eyewitness guide book on Northern Spain. It does not disappoint us. The staff are most helpful and brought us coffee and cake to have in the garden every morning. We were told good restaurants to go to and places of interest to visit and the place was very clean. The bathroom has lovely toiletries.
We stayed 3 nights in Jardin Secreto and were made so very welcome. Our host was extremely friendly and helpful and made our visit to Santander very special. The house has been beautifully decorated and our room was lovely and spotlessly clean. The shower was excellent, the bed comfortable and the street quiet. We hope to return to this beautiful city and would certainly stay here again. Jan and Tim, Oxford
Stayed for three nights and although the outside appearance is not great, inside is totally opposite, clean, immaculate, airy and light leading out to a peaceful sunny garden at the rear. Rooms and en suites are lovely and modern with fridge, safe and a powerful shower. We enjoyed fresh coffee each morning from our wonderful host and relaxed in the garden. Five minute walk to the centre of the city so convenient and handy. Will have no hesitation in using Jardin Secreto again on further visits.
Jardin Secreto Review El Jardin Secreto in Santander, Spain is our ‘home away from home’ – literally – when my husband and I visit his parents in this lovely Cantabrian port city on the north coast of Spain. We usually stay a week or two. On a quiet street, just a few minutes walk from the center of town, El Jardin Secreto is perfectly located. Also – across the street, a fabulous pastry shop / café run by Rodrigo, and just a few doors down, the hip Colombian bar and restaurant “La Fonda” run by the delightful Marianne. One block away is Santander’s best gym – including a big lap pool and sauna / steam room. Really, the location can’t be beat. The hotel is charming – only 6 rooms – each with either a view of the lovely ‘secret garden’ or the front street. Eneida, the owner, is the perfect hostess: providing fresh towels in the morning, and coffee with sweets in the lobby. Each room is decorated differently, and in a completely contemporary fashion with little Spanish touches. The best thing (in my opinion): The showers – TERRIFIC: roomy with REALLY great water pressure, and shampoo and soap provided. It’s reasonably priced and homey. You’ll love it.…
Hearteningly welcoming, charming, still, a garden on a terrace for coffee (and smoking) in the morning facing a magnolia and the sky, and silent in the night. Harmony everywhere, and a family which knows the meaning of caring for people. Thoughtful and lovely. Be kind.
This place is so homey, very clean, and even smells good. The garden is quaint and perfect for reading with a cup of tea. I really want to go back. Eneida met me, explained a few things and gave me the best tips about Santander, including hidden gems. Her brother Nacho also suggested I got a bus pass, which gave me the freedom to go about town, included the nice beaches, with ease. It was really the people of Jardin Secreto one of the keys to making of Santander my favorite stay, of my entire 2-week trip around Northern Spain.
The rooms are beautiful and unique. It was spacious and even had a small balcony overlooking the secret garden (yes, there is one!). The bed was so comfy and the shower was roomy and the water pressure was perfect. Every morning, there was fresh coffee and tea, along with local pastries for the guests, and it would be there all day. Ene, who oversees Jardin Secreto is absolutely lovely. When I arrived, I was a bit ill. She noticed right away and brought tea and pastries to my room. She also had wonderful suggestions on what to do in the city: tourist must-sees like museum Centro Botín and local favorites like restaurant Marucho (make sure you go; the food is divine!).The location is perfect, right in the center of the city. It's very walkable to all major attractions and a short walk to buses and taxis. I would absolutely stay there again!…
Stayed here three nights and thoroughly recommend it - really nice rooms and centrally located, yet the garden is quite and great for sitting outside, morning or evening. I've never had hotel staff give such a good introduction and advice about a city as I got here. There was nothing bogus about the restaurant advice either - a gem that I wouldn't have found otherwise.
We stayed here for 2 nights. The sister and brother who run it were both very welcoming and spoke good English. Good recommendations for favourite bars and restaurants. The room was "designer" decorated by their mum and she has put a lot of thought into the decor. Also we had a window onto the little garden at the back, where we sat on our first afternoon. Bed comfortable, great shower. Didn't have breakfast but a small one is included in the price. Only slight disadvantage is the position, up a hill from the main town if you don't like hills. It's a very real part of the town with all that implies but felt safe to us.
Large room with a very refined decorationand very nice hostess. The garden is definitely an advantage. You can have a small breakfast seErved in the garden !! Excellent location close to the historical centre and the bus station and RENFE
