Dear john, We thank you for sending your comment and your good evaluation of it. We apologize if any other guests were not respectful of your rest. We were at his disposal 24 hours a day at the Reception, so if we had been informed, we would have looked for a quick solution. I was only staying one night and this place suited my needs. Not sure what people expect for €25 in the islands capital - the room was spacious, reasonably equipped and clean. I thought it was excellent value for money for what it was.

Stayed here for only 1 Night but fast check in, 24hr Reception and lift to the room. The Room was spacious with 2 single beds, a couch, closet, fridge and bathroom. Quiet location but if you arrive with a car it can be hard to find parking. Short distance walking to the main shopping street and lots of restaurants.

The toilets in the public areas were dirty, as was the bath in the en suite.No hot water in the room. Cannot get a drink except bottled water from a machine, or coffee from a machine. The coffee was as cheap as it gets, cold, and served only half a cup at a time. We had to wait four and a half hours for our room to be ready. Lights on the third floor lift warning did not work automatically, so we had to grope around in the dark to find a light switch. Staff were helpful, though. It is in a really run down part of town.

Mr. Norman, The main reason for his dissatisfaction is that you showed up at the hotel first thing in the morning and, insistently, wanted to occupy your room which was still occupied by a previous Client. In your Reservation, on our website and at the Reception it is clearly informed that check-in takes place after 1 pm and check-out until 12 noon. That is, the previous Client made use of his right to use the room until 12 noon and, subsequently, it had to be cleaned and prepared for you. We believe that all negative information sends it as revenge to damage our reputation by not having achieved its objective. We would not have had any problem in having used your room in advance if it had been empty and ready. Please reflect on it. Where do I start?
We decided to stay in Hotel Horizonte because it was one of the only hotels in the hostel website we used that provided free wifi throughout the hotel.
Upon our arrival we could not access wifi on our smart phones or on our laptops. We were told that some rooms were not able to access wifi and we were welcome to use our laptops in the reception area as that was where the wifi worked best. However, our phones and laptops didn't work there either. On the second day of complaining about the lack of internet, we were told that the reception computer wasn't having any problems with the internet and that we could pay 1 euro for half an hour to use their reception computer with internet.
We explained that we didn't want to have to pay for internet considering both our phones and laptops couldn't access the IP address of the hotel's wifi. When we explained this (and the solution which fixes it), we were told that the receptionist was not allowed to reset the wifi router because she wasn't allowed to touch it and the only person who could reset it had gone home for the day.
We couldn't complain to the owner as apparently he didn't speak English but I don't think it would have made a difference. If they wanted to help us, they could have simply pushed a button.
We are here in Santa Cruz as we have jobs here and are looking for apartments, which is impossible without internet access.
Furthermore, the bathtub that you stand in to have a shower was a precarious shape and it was dangerous to stand in as you could slide off it into the taps of the shower. The bathroom door did not close unless you locked it.
Plus there is NO air conditioning. At the moment it's around 28 degrees during the day and about 18 degrees at night. Expect an uncomfortably hot sleep. And you won't be granted the luxury of cooling your own drinks as there is no fridges in the rooms.
I regret booking with Hotel Horizonte.

Great value for money! Took 4th floor room to minimise street noise as I always sleep with french windows fully open. Clean and comfortable - bathroom small with wierd tiny bath but shower worked fine so not a problem for me. No breakfast but excellent Pasteleria Diaz a few minutes walk away and at least 2/3 other nearby places for breakfast. Machine in reception for bottled water at reasonable price. Really excellent fast wifi for skype etc. Excellent location for access to restaurants and buses and tranvia (tram). Do take tram up to San Cristobal De La Laguna.
